Well, I went to the hydroponic store yesterday hoping to find a good deal on some new lighting. They had a 400 watt HPS system on clearance for $170. I got the reflector, cordset, bulb, and ballast for that. I'm pretty sure that's a great deal...is it?

Thats a pretty decent deal. I dont have a hydro store near me. Im looking for a 1000w and i really dont wanna drop more than 280 or so. Actually thats all i can afford to put towards one.

You'd better call the store I use at 1-888-449-2739. I was there today and they've now got 1000 watt switchable HPS/MH fixtures+ballasts+cordsets, with bulb, on clearance for $200. They sell online, so I'm sure they'd be willing to ship. That'll defintely be under your price limit. Hope this is a help to you :-)

I will build you one for 280+s&h with Hortilux, If I can still get the same deal I got before Xmas on the Hortilux...Actually the unit w/out reflector is $199. choose any reflector you want (I don't use one!)and add to price...Choose any bulb you want, and add to price. lw

Oh, sorry MM...You got an OK deal...depends on what bulb you got with unit.
But overall, not bad, from a hydro store.

I got a GE bulb that puts out 55,000 lumens. :-D My plants grow 1/2 to 1 inch a day now.
