My 150w HPS cab.
I think the cab itself was like $50. I used a 1/4" sheet of plywood as opposed to the cardboard backboard it came with. So thats like an extra $12 for the wood. Give em the height and length, they do 2 cuts for free at home depot. All I had to do was bring it home and nail it on. If ya go that route, circle saw drill bits to cut holes make life easy. Optional... but i also cauked the entire thing before lining it w/ reflectic-x. Few hits w/ a staple gun, and the material isnt going anywhere

yea thanks buddy. you have been more than helpful. I am getting ready to do a grow of one or two plants, maybe even for seed we'll see, i think i want more bud than seed this time. i just recently decided to do indoor grows in addition to the outdoors i have been doing in order to have a more controlled environment and some more bud during the summer when its pretty lacking around here. i wanna know, how effective is the plexi-glass barrier? and by the way, i am more of a build it myself kind of guy. I know a lot about carpentry a bit about electrician work and the combo makes me love to do shit on my own. i built my grow chamber out of the foam board because i had it around, other wise i would have built a grow room myself with 4 pieces of plywood for 48 dollars if from home depot, or maybe even cheaper if i get it from the local lumber yard. i wired the hps myself, and made an aluminum reflector. damn that shit gets hot. im firing up my grow in the next couple weeks. I hope it goes okay because i have to leave my brother to tend to the grow for a week.
but hey its an experiment. haha

The light still obviously penetrates and serves its purpose.
Now that you have an attic, you need to vent it but hey now. That attic is alot smaller than the rest of the cabinet.... so... you can get away with less cfm to cool because your not cooling the ENTIRE cabinet, only a smaller section of it. And the two inch slit allows the cool air up and out.
Good luck with your grows man. Hopefully your bro has a green thumb. Glad to help
Ill post a pretty pic from my closet grow just cause

i was planning to get thta 150w floralux from htg supply but now im thinking about getting a 250w hps and growing in a cabinet i saw at ikea.Im planning on growing 3 hopfully 4 plants in this 19x31x60 cabinet with a tempered lens placed in the middle of a shlef right below the light.I want to do this because hopefully that will increase yield and keep the heat in the sealed upper part of the cabinet but i am concered about the light heating up the wood.So this question is going to Bonghit boy what would you recommend for a light the 150 floralux or a 250w hps with a diy lens.
