Ok- Need the real story on cfl's!!!
42 watts is the only relivant number. 150 watts is in comparing to incandescent lights, which nobody uses for growing. That number means absolutely nothing. 42 watts is what you need to know when figuring out what your yeild will be, how much heat it creates, how much it will cost to run, and how it compares to other growers. 150 watts does not mean anything at all. The actual output is measured in lumens, not watts.

if you went by the high number my 350cfl grow would be a 1050cfl grow and my yeild of 4oz would not be very good for that many watts. that is because it is only 350watts!!!!!!! everyone needs to totally ignore the high number. noone will be able to answer questions properly if people go by the high number when describing there set up. IT IS A 42WATT CFL NOT A 150WATT CFL!!!!!!!!!

Again, the lumens of a 150 watt incandescent, which NOBODY USES FOR GROWING MARIJUANA! If you feel the need to clarify the output for some reason, use 2700 lumens. "150 watts" means absolutely nothing to anybody here. You're only confusing people by saing 150 when you really only have a 42w.

If you have look at the package: 42Watt/Equivalent to 150 Watt = 2700 lumens.
If that is confusing, Talk to manufacturer don't argue with me. What I said is on the package!

it's not confusing unless you say you have a 300 watt hood with 2 of them(42's). why even bring the larger # into the mix. i know it's only 42watts but newbies are gonna be confused as shit. the fact that this thread even exists is proof that people are confused by the 2 different wattages on the box. i really don't care what you call it myself, but think of the 1st time grower with 2 42watters asking why his plants are stretching so much when he only has 3 plants under 300watts of cfl(that's 100watts a plant, right?) the reason the high number is there is to tell people which to buy to replace there incandescent light bulbs. example: my 150 watt incandescent reading light burns out, i want a cfl to replace it so i buy the 42watt because it puts out the same amount of light for reading as a 150watt incandescent.

I didn't really pay attention to the wattage of the hoods, I just figured the lumens and went by that. They are doing very well, I will see if I can get pics up. BTW this is my 1st grow, And all I know about computers is what I have learned playing with it. OK let me try these pics.

Who the hell cares what the package says?! That high number is not relivant here, DON'T USE IT! Yes, I have bought lots of 42 watt CFLs, and that's what they are, 42 watts. They are not 150 watts! They do not have "150 watt output". They are 42 watts, and they have a lumen output of 2700. That's it! I have a very expensive degree in lighting and electrical science, I know what I'm talking about!

so to make the cfl's work really well you would need about 4 42 watt bulbes to get enough watts for using them to be economical??? i think thats what im going to make. maybe 2 of those so thats 8 bulbs 4 of them 6000k and 4 2700k. i think thatll work well.
