What are good inexpensive lights to use?
I posted recently and have since come to learn that my light source may be the problem when it came to the very tall but very small plants I had started to grow. Can anyone give me a suggestion for a fairly inexpensive but easily attainable light source, I was using a Sylvania 120 W spot gro light placed about 4 1/2 feet away. I've never done this before ! So I am embarassed. I'm learning a lot from you all, but could still use more help. I just got some more seeds and want to do it right. I know the light must be much closer but how close?. Would it be ok to start them off in my green house window? Would that be any better? HELP!
I mean the leaves were probably like 1 1/2 inches across. If that, is that a problem with the light? Oh and for anyone who doesn't know my shameful tale, I killed them with too much fert .Thanks in advance :smokin:

light distance from the seedlings should be about 2".. try to get alot of 60w or 75w cfls to start off for ur babies.. when u come up wit the money, start bangin out good bulbs lyk 150w CFLs... make sure u get full spectrum lights.. the plants LOVE blue spectrum for vegetative growth.. highest rate of photosynthesis and chlorophyl absorbtion..

I use a 1000 watt from Fox Farms. My average bill during veg. is 80$ per month. During flowering its about 65$. I grow around 39 plants at a time and allow them to reach 3.5' at harvest. My walk-in closet walks me right to where i like to be
