    Crazy, Jimi.

I'm curious about why you Hendrix fans think he left the Band Of Gypsys. He started the band to create a bond between him and "his" people, but then, out of the blue, Buddy Miles is kicked out of the group. Mysterious, I say.

It wasn't that he left the Band Of Gypsys, Mitch Mitchell rejoined him for the Cry Of Love tour and Buddy Miles wanted to go his own way, but I remember hearing something about how they didn't see together, eye to eye, as to which musical direction to go. I know, Hendrix wanted to have more musicians.

there's an excellent documentary out called "band of gypsy's" that's been playing off n on for the past few months on premium cable channels so it must be out on dvd or vhs! it deals with the last days of the gypsy's along with jimi's last days and desire to put the experience back together.

Yeah, it talks about Jimi, and how he experimented with the Band Of Gypsys to reach the Negro audience--Unity of soul. I think there was too much negativity with the Band Of Gypsys...there really wasn't much musicians in those days like Jimi--Soulfull. Miles Davis could surely qualify, among a few others. Off the top of my head...Marvin Gaye, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker...etc.

Ganj, to tell you the truth, Buddy Miles was a show stealer. He deserved to be the top ticket in his group. "The Band of Gypsys" was done, purely, because Jimi's record label demanded an album and his head was lost in travelling all over God's creation, because of Michael Jeffrey, and, after the 90-something percent of his earnings being stolen by Jeffrey, he didn't have enough money to put into Electric Ladyland.

Jimi played Michael Jeffrey's game and lost.

    I have that DVD.

Is this your view on what happened? I'm sure Hendrix wasn't stupid enough to allow this dude over 90% of his earnings. Electric Ladyland was released, and whether it had enough money put into it or not doesn't mean that it wasn't a damn good album. Jimi apparently made the best out of what he had.

Ganj, Hendrix found this out and was getting ready to fire him and then massive amounts of wine mysteriously showed up in his lungs.

Electric Ladyland was the studio Hendrix was building in New York City.
