    Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!

i haven't read all the answers but no matter...here's what i do:
i use miracle grow ferts during veg at half strength on my outdoor grows and have always had good results. but their potting soil is another story...i strongly recommend against using m.g. potting soil as it's just too hot and tends to burn seedlings and transplants...imho

    Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!

I used miracle grow ferts and mg soil because it was very available at the time in Sept.2005. Germinated 18 out 20 seeds in it, 13 out 18 female. I used 1/4 strenght per quart water and added root stimulater after each transplant. 13 plants is alot for one 400hps in a closet. For 60 days of flowering I did not have room in closet for that many plants, so I rotated half every 12 hours. WHEW,that was a lot of work! but it was worth it. 30 mason jars of the best weed I ever had. First grow, following the mainstream advice, of the masters.

    Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!

Wow, thanks for all the responses.

I just got back from vacation and to my delight the little guys have grown A LOT in the last 5 days - Maybe even doubled in size, but I could be exagerating.

Anyway, despite the massive growth I do notive that the leaves have a very yellowish tint to them instead of that rich green. I think they are experiencing a little nut burn from the miracle grow soil. Also, I believe this soil is slightly acidic.

So, here are my two questions:
    1. Will the plants adjust to the nutes in the M.G. soil? and if not what should I do about that?
    and
    2. What can I do about the acidity of the soil? What do you guys think about flushing them. I know this is a technique used a couple weeks before harvest to rid the soil of fertilizers, but perhaps I could use it now to make this soil a little more mild and tolerable for the guys (girls). Would that put too much strain on them after the recent transplant and possible nute burn?

    Thanks for any advice!

I germinate my seeds in a weak-dilution of Miracle-gro and water, I foliar feed with a hand sprayer once a week during all stages of growth and flowering, and foliar-spray plain water the other days ... I only stop the Miracle-Gro about two weeks before I figure on harvesting, then spray daily with plain water to rinse off any leftover Miracle-Gro ...then dry and cure normally ... Im no conisseur of flavor, but they taste fine to me ... my plants have always been extremely healthy ... am I just lucky ?? ... of all my grows, (maybe 65 plants, 6-8 at a time, plain old street bag seeds, I have only had ONE MALE ... never spider mites, etc ... never any yellowing of leaves, etc .. (oh yeah, I always stick a rusty nail into the soil next to the main stem, for iron) ...other than that, no nutrients, plain potting soil, ... I guess I'm just 'old-school', but REMEMBER: cannabis is a WEED ... the shit grows anywhere, anyhow ... I know I've had great luck, but eradication efforts fail miserably because ya can't hardly kill the shit ... just my thoughts ... GROW, ENJOY :smokin:

    Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!

if it's not broke don't fix it...right? although, i would be very hesitant to foliar feed late in flowering because of the risk of mold. it would be safer to just add the ferts when watering imo. i never foliar feed myself.

    Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!

only reason I got into the foliar feeding, was I read Mel Frank and Ed Rosenthal's book about growing, many years ago .. imp: .. anyway, they claimed at that time, if you only foliar feed, you won't over-fertilize ... being paranoid with my first grow, I followed instructions, and all went well ... Im not too informed as to the new nutrients, or hydroponics, either ... just an ol' dirt farmer .... :smokin:

    Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!

as i said, if it's not broke don't fix it. if you haven't had any problems with mold or anything else then you must be doing something right. keep it up. you could always do an experiment: grow 2 clones side by side. foliar feed 1 and feed the other with waterings and see which ends up better in the end. it sounds interesting to try.

    Urgent MiracleGro Question!!!

I use a sprayer and spray the leaves down with fish emulsion. Then I water it depending on its size probably a couple gallons a week on a hot week. I don't foliar feed during flowering. I'll till alittle bone meal into the soil and give it a small dose of some 0-49-0 shultz fertilizer. And after that nothing but water only when it needs it. I live in georgia and it tends to get quite hot so i water often.
