I guess if you don't know how to take care of yourself in there it's pretty shitty but he never minded it much, he said it was like his way of punishing the government, they have to pay for his food, clothes, and all that shit. So I guess it's like, if you don't have a family or anything + can take care of yourself, it's a free room and food.
no offence but i find that hard to believe, i mean not all jails are the same but most are in a way, I habe NEVER heard of any kind of rape EVER happening in a jail, only because most jails are 364 days and under no long terms. Maybe in the state pen where im going they get raped but not no little vacation spot like county jail
