Ok...fatherly duty done...odds are that hipestoner is correct unless your state has enacted some newer laws regarding shoplifting and drugs that might fall under the same category as stealing sudafed to make meth. Some of those new regulations are pretty inclusive and broad and cover a lot more over the counter drugs that aren't related to meth in any way. Politicians are so stupid sometimes. Especially if it's your first offense.
