I'm very new to hydroponics but for the small scale personal use grow I'll be doing, my homemade setup was the perfect answer. For the size of your grow I'd recommend whatever system is lowest in maintenance and that will operate without attention for the longest. Make sure you read up well on the draw backs of certain systems. You don't want everything to die because a pump failure went unnoticed for a few days.
