Question directed at christians.
How come in order to help people, primitive cultures to be specific, you must first convert them using missionarys. The whole missionary things bugs me bad,
sure we will give you aid, but first you gotta change your religion and build a stone church in the village.
Even if you arnt forcing them to convert or giving them a choice to not listen, you are still shoving it in their face, going into a village and tell people your religion is right is so wrong. At least in my eyes.bedake Reviewed by bedake on . Question directed at christians. How come in order to help people, primitive cultures to be specific, you must first convert them using missionarys. I don't think that's really done much anymore. The missionaries that I know will go somewhere and just help...rebuild a village, teach in a school, meet medical needs are all examples, and then just use the opportunity to share what they believe. It's really quite diferent from what most people think.

Who say's they're primitive? Try living as a hunter gatherer in the rainforest. They have to learn and memorize a lot of shit in order to survive. They have adapted to their environment. Technology does not necessarily mean advanced.

I agree with what you said. I'm a christian in the sense I believe Jesus died for our sins but alot of the modern Judeo-christian beliefs bug me. I feel the bible we read today was passed on through many generations by mouth and is now a book of fictional stories based upon the original stories. I also think forcing or even attempting to force your religion onto someone who does not want it is wrong and it makes you look like a prick too.

Im a christian but I'm alot like soxsuk christianity has changed to much. Missionaries don't be pissed at them they are doing what they think is right and it really isn't hurting the people they preach to and if they get to pissed they just boil them in a stew and eat them. It's not really forced just their I mean c'mon would you prefer them to go on a ji'had and kill everyone that isn't christian. They ain't forcing just being annoying lol.

Missionaries believe what they are doing is saving peoples souls. They beleive they are doing people a favor by building schools, hospitals, and churches. You may not believe it but that's probably why you're not a missionary.

umm sort of, Crow. I don't thnk of it as doing someone a favor, so much as just doing something nice. From a biblical view its the right thing to show love to other people and part of that is helping to meet their non-spirtual needs. That's why I do so much of the charity work that I do and support others doing similar things. I keep my eyes open for opportunities to share what I believe but I try not to force the issue and be a jackass about it. Do I fail sometimes, sure, but I'm human and a Christian that doesn't mean I'm perfect.
