Remember J. Carters rescue attempt in Iran? What a fuckin' joke!!! I want our equipment to be a generation ahead of others. In order to do that the bucks have to be spent. Look at the first gulf wars casualty rate and compare that to what they were predicting. Hell, Iraq was considered a big dog and it was wasted in 100 days with minimal loss of life....THAT's what your money brings to the men and women in the service today.

I agree that we need the best and newest for our military and it should be a generation ahead of all the rest. The sad fact is that the military is a humongous bureacracy compounded by layers and layers of more bureacracy. After all the stories we've heard about $600 ashtrays and $900 toilets and hammers and the huge amounts of money that have literally vanished without a trace in Iraq, with the feds hiding behind the "national security" bullshit there is still no accountability for their stupidity. It's no different than the 230 million dollar bridge to nowhere in Alaska, payback for political favors and it needs to stop. Same thing for programs like welfare where we keep giving money to idiots who have been scamming the system and getting away with it for years. Or for that matter the hurricane mess with people buying Gucci bags and hookers with their rescue money. It's gotten so huge that it is just too easy to hide or lose track of all of the waste and mismanagement and incompetence. The only people that end up getting held accountable are the poor dumb bastards at the bottom of the food chain. Same thing or the botched missile defense program which can be compared to flinging a pebble at a flock of geese. Reminds me of a quote from the old far side cartoons...
    no brains...no service.

hmmmm thats not accurate at all. I went to Turkey and it says they only have around 400k troops. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Turkey has over 1million active Soldiers in their Military.
