What does MUSIC do for you high?

Often when I'm high I'll throw in some Mozart - mostly his sonatas and symphonies. When I listen to it I let myself become - no shit - a ballerina dancing with long ribbons unfurled, one held in each hand. Oh, and sometimes I dance on a gymnasts floor, all bouncy. The ribbons will begin to dance together themselves, above my own head, making love to Mozart. They begin to flow, as if the viewer is moving along at a high speed, the ribbons still dancing in time. The ribbons may form a waterfall or tube or even a scene with people in it.

Only through the anonymity of the internet would I ever say that - but what the hell. If there's anyone else who'd be willing to admit to giving Mozart a try while high, or classical music in general, and would be willing to share their experience that would be awesome. Us classical music junkies need to spread the word! There's nothing else like it!

Hmm.. interesting post. I appreciate classical music sober, but I never even considered turning it on while high. I usually like to listen to some trippy, electronic stuff while I'm high. Last time (Saturday) I smoked I imagined my own music, it was weird as fuck. I blazed with my roommate and we could swear we both heard like a Native American chant/song and like.. it was really amusing.

Then we stopped for a second and were like, this is ridiculous, that was totally an auditory hallucination, but then it started up again, and the strange shit is that we heard it at the same time when it started up again. Either it was like.. one crazy hallucination or there was one crazy Native American dude singing in the snowstorm. (We never found him)

I play bluegrass music. Guitar and fiddle. When i am not playing and i just want to relax i throw some Miles Davis on and burn one down. Garcia/Grisman do some Miles on their 'So What" CD. Garcia and Grisman have taken Bluegrass music to a level that boggles the human mind. Other Gracia/Grisman CD's that are worth your while would be
    Shady Grove
    The Pizza Tapes
    Not for Kids Only
    Old and in the way
    Grateful Dawg
    Garcia/Grisman
    Been All Around this World

This is an example of what FlatPickin and Mandolin playin should sound like.
Jerry Garcia's work on the Banjo and Acoustic Guitar is amazing.

    dai*ma
Does this road take me all the way to Little Rock?

I've been standing here all day and it hasnt went anywhere yet:dance:

instead of immersing oneself in the past, in the form of classical music, one should immerse oneself in the modern, the contempary, the FUNK!!!

Funky house all the way man, theres nothing better than getting high to some low-down-and-dirty-grindy-FUNKY ass tunes.

    in funk we trust.

Speaking of Funk, do you listen to Tower of Power. If not, definitely check out some of their stuff. Some highlights are:

    Squib Cakes
    Down to the Nightclub
    Soul Vaccination
    Diggin' on James Brown

I haven't listened to much funk besides James Brown and Funkadelic/Parliament. I'll give the others a listen though. I'm also pretty ignorant when it comes to bluegrass, so I'll look into getting ahold of some.

But what I initially was trying to say is that classical is great stuff when you're high - if you've first taken the time to find a composer you like, and develop an appreciation for it, just like with rock or funk or bluegrass or whatever.
Brey, classical is not 'old' music necessarily. There is some ridiculously progressive stuff that has been put out by contemporary composers like Igor Stravisnky, Alban Berg, and Steve Reich, to name just a few.

Check out the Steve Reich song "Come Out" and tell me that's old music. Reich is great, but my personal fav is Mozart (symphonies and sonatas, and some operas) - its blatantly brilliant, and can be incredibly visual and emotional when you're high, and sometimes when you're not.
Alright I'll stop beating this dead horse for now.
