Well I know Einstein fled Germany because he was jewish. but that's about as much as I know about his faith. but I don't really care, I think it's silly how everybody now uses einstein's quotes to justify themselves. The man was a genius and understood the physical universe like no other, that doesn't mean his word is unquestionable and superior to everybody on every subject.

He was not reallhy "jewish" in a religous sense - he was a German, but some of his ancestors belonged to the Jewish faith - at least for a relativly short time in human history that this religion has existed. I'm not an expert on Einstein's life, but I would imagine that he would have been made to work for the Nazi's had he been in Germany. He became a citizen of Switzerland, in 1901, and eventually (1940) of the United States. He made F.D.R. aware of the possibility of a German-made Atomic Bomb. Although he was not a religous nut, he was a Zionist, and supported the idea of a Jewish State. He was a pacifist and humanitarian, as well. A very complex man, this Albert Einstein.

1879 (March 14) Born in Ulm, Germany, to Hermann Einstein (1847-1902) and Pauline Koch (1858-1920).
1880 Einsteins move to Munich.
1881 Sister Maja (Maria) born (d. 1951).
1888 Enters Luitpold school in Munich.
1894 Family moves to Italy, Albert stays at Luitpold.
1895 Rejoins family in Pavia, then goes to cantonal school in Aarau, Switzerland.
1896 Renounces German citizenship.

1905 Publishes in the Annalen der Physik:

1909 Becomes associate professor at University of Zurich.

1911 Becomes full professor at Karl-Ferdinand University in Prague.
Predicts bending of starlight at eclipses (but gets the magnitude wrong).
1912 Becomes professor at the ETH in Zurich.
1914 Becomes professor at University of Berlin.

1915 Cosigns "Manifesto to Europeans" separating himself from German militarism.
