    siSTAR, you're gonna hate me....

I was just reading what somebody was saying about that exact quote, here it is:

"Kristof (some author) also misinterprets Einstein's famous statement, suggesting that Einstein was voicing respect for religious credulity. Science without religion is lame, merely because "science can only be created by those who are thoroughly imbued with the aspiration toward truth and understanding. This source of feeling, however, springs from the sphere of religion." Whereas religion without science is blind because religion has no access to the truth -- it was, to Einstein's mind, nothing other than this "source of feeling," this striving for something greater that cannot itself be scientifically justified. Faith, therefore, is hunger only; while reason is its food.

Einstein seemed to consider faith nothing more than a eunuch left to guard the harem while the intellect was away solving the problems of the world. By pretending that it could proceed without any epistemic aspirations whatsoever, Eisnstein robbed religion of the truth of its doctrine. In so doing, he also relieved it of its capacity to err. This is not the faith that evangelicals, or any other reigious believers, have ever practiced. See Einstein, Ideas and Opinions (New York: Wing Books, 1954), 41-49."

Well, I'm not saying anyone knows what Einstein was really thinking, but here's another interpretation... And you can read Einstein's book (I haven't) to see if this is bullshit or not.

Wanna laugh even more? It's by the same author as the quote I posted in the other thread... I guess when people debate something, they always exaggerate their point a little for dramatic effect

Well I didn't know it was the same guy....That blows it all out of the water then.

I guess we need the 20/20 rule for ALL articles, not just the bible.

And do you read anything BUT what this guy writes? Because you have yet to quote anyone but him.

Einstein was NOT religious at all.

    http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/quotes/einstein.htm

It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.
-- Albert Einstein, 1954, from Albert Einstein: The Human Side, edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, Princeton University Press

Scientific research is based on the idea that everything that takes place is determined by laws of nature, and therefore this holds for the action of people. For this reason, a research scientist will hardly be inclined to believe that events could be influenced by a prayer, i.e. by a wish addressed to a Supernatural Being.
-- Albert Einstein, 1936, responding to a child who wrote and asked if scientists pray. Source: Albert Einstein: The Human Side, Edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffmann

    Einstein Quote!!!!

What about reality being ones perception. That IS what reality is. People all over the world precieve things differently, from the bible, to a quote, the meaning behind a song, the real reason Hilary Clinton stays with Bill.........

The whole world will never agree on not one thing. There will always be somone there to tell you your wrong. Or what your doing is wrong. Or what you think, or feel is wrong.

The fact of the matter is, we are each different in everysingle way. That is why it is okay to pick what resonates within one self. Because all reality is, is your perception of it. And Our perceptions are shaped throughout are years, and various experiences.

Wether or not he was religious, I would say no. Spiritual? Maybe.....

Per your link I found another quote by Einstein:

"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings.
-- Albert Einstein, following his wife's advice in responding to Rabbi Herbert Goldstein of the International Synagogue in New York, who had sent Einstein a cablegram bluntly demanding "Do you believe in God?" Quoted from and citation notes derived from Victor J. Stenger, Has Science Found God? (draft: 2001), chapter 3.

Spinoza's God, Individual Choice and Society

    by James Craig Green

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following is a bit of philosophy inspired by the Dutch philospher Spinoza, modified by my own interpretation and experience:
NATURE is everything. There is mass, energy, atoms, molecules, life, thought, people, societies, galaxies and perhaps even multiple universes (pure speculation). But there is nothing outside nature, including spiritual visions and other phenomena we don't yet understand. If they exist, they are part of nature.

Spinoza asserted that for a concept of god to make any sense at all, it must simply be nature. That is, god cannot be something outside nature that controls it, but must necessarily be part of it. According to Spinoza, God IS nature. While Spinoza was excommunicated from his Jewish community in Amsterdam and condemned by Christians as well for being an atheist, he was very devoutly religious. He saw the traditional anthropomorphic (man-like) god as an abomination, completely rejecting the wonder of nature, from which life comes. To Spinoza, nature is the true expression of God. And each of us is part of it. Unfortunately, his highly technical, mathematical style of writing limited widespread appreciation of his work.
    ================================================== ======

Is god Nature/energy? Is Everything nature/energy? Could energy be god, rather than god being energy? We are all part of god, we are all energy......we can all be broken down into elements/nature.

Well I know Einstein fled Germany because he was jewish. but that's about as much as I know about his faith. but I don't really care, I think it's silly how everybody now uses einstein's quotes to justify themselves. The man was a genius and understood the physical universe like no other, that doesn't mean his word is unquestionable and superior to everybody on every subject.
