1) I found the HPS bulb I'll be using, its a 400 watt, I will make the reflector myself, that part is easy. So I guess I will need a socket, ballast and cable? How do I hook this stuff up, or what type of stuff should i use? Electrical stuff...

2) ALSO, a girlfriend of mine keeps telling me not to start anything right now because of the season, I tell her over and over its indoor, its regulated it can be done anytime! Isnt that correct? Why would she think this? I think shes insane, I hope im write on this one. Hope you can help with both parts here

You can usually find a ballast at electrical stores and stuff like that. Just call around and ask for prices and stuff to find the best cause they can be kind of expensive. Also make sure it is for a 400 watt bulb. You can also grow indoors at anytime of year cause you create the environment so to speak, so it can be done whenever.

1.- Its not hard to hook it up. Once you buy the ballast its self explanatory..A 400 watt HPS is good for about 10 plants if im not mistaken, possibly more. HPS is real good lighting, so yur ahead of the game if ya get a ballast. You will most likely need ventilation and fans to keep the area cool and supplemented with fresh air..(Try ebay)

2.- Yur girlfriend is wrong. Indoor growing doesnt go by the seasonal table. When you grow an indoor plant with artificial lights your basically playing God. YOU control the environment and YOU control the plants, not the sun...Tell your girlfriend plants depend on light and a decent temperature to grow. You duplicate this and the plants will grow. Its as simple as that. No hidden messages, no nothin, just grow it..

I knew it! She was blaming her bad growing techniques on saying that. Darn woman muahhaha. I was wrong, Im starting with a 400watt MH light, I forgot, But I may pick up an HPS also as I heard there better for flowering. Well it's time to shop for a ballast, I'll let you guys know what I get today. Thanks ...

Wrong way around.

HPS-- Vegging ---- Releases more of a blue spectrum

MH-- Flowering ---- Releases more of a red spectrum.


Although you can use both for both cycles, the results are better in changing bulbs, apparently (I wouldn't know I haven't done it)

You got that reversed, HPS is for flowering.
