Apparently you can't read. The bottom line is that I know how to handle a gun and I've been doing so for many years. Therefore, I am safer having one. What Joe Schmoe does with his gun is not my business, nor are his moronic shooting himself in the foot statistics.

No disagreements there. So help me educate myself. What is the proper way to handle something that is made to kill? Or did you miss the paperweight comment earlier? That would be a shame because I thought it was a perfectly valid question. I can use a cinder block to kill someone, or to rest lumber on. I can use a knife to kill someone, or to cut a piece of rope. I can use a can of soup to kill someone, or I can just open it and eat the contents. What can I use a gun for other than to kill someone?

Oh well, pardon me for not taking your word for it as to whether or not you should be trusted with a weapon. Realise, it's not your safety I'm concerned with, and really not even my own, but the safety of all those loved ones out there in the world that I'm thinking of.

there has been 2 shooting deaths in a neighboring town in the past 2 weeks, one a guy shot his girlfriend on accident and killed her while dicking around, another 3 days ago a ten year old girl got shot in the head, noone knows how and no gun has been found.
Ok 2 accidental shooting deaths in the neighboring town in the past 2 weeks, in the past 4 years there have been only 2 murders
according to my neighboring town there are more frequent accidental shootings then robberies at gun point and murders not only do guns cause violence, they also are parts of accidents

no one says that guns arent made to kill. that was the original point dude! fuckin what else can you use a spear for, or a knife? i know you will say that you can whittle or somethin with a knife, but you can shoot the fuck out of a tree to cut it down? dumb and pointless but still a use. many things were originally made to kill. swords, knifes, cars (the version of the car we use today uses most of its modern technology from WWI tanks.)

I'm going to ahead and say that most of the modern technology in my car is not from WWI. That wouldn't very modern at all. I'm not sure what you're driving though.
Haze meister, you already agreed that we can't trust the hillbillies with guns, so where do you draw the line?

i think that everyone should have to take extensive gun safety courses before they can own, possess, carry, or shoot a firearm. since i cant appropriately draw the line between hillbilly and good, thats the best i can do. also, the technology in your car did develop from WWI, in the way that it came from what came from etc etc etc. not directly, indirectly. as in leaf spring suspension, modern engine, modern exhaust system, crumple zones, anti roll bars, etc. i love cars too, as you can tell.

EDIT: And actually, i am driving a '99 Saturn L300 with about 550 HP, 600 lb/ft torque, and the most comfortable interior you will ever sit in. It will most definitely smoke whatever you have. 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, 4WD, and top speed is about 160.
Engine: 2.4L DOHC INline 4 with electronically adjustable fuel injection, reinforced manifolds, ported and polished, aftermarket heads (dunno what brand) a supercharger taken from an ecotec I4 in a cobalt, and one centrifugal vortec turbo pumping a total of 18 PSI of boost into it. If i turn the settings allthe way down, it gets 25 mpg city and still puts out 280 hp. now thats efficiency.
