Ahh the Bible - ever an inspiration to the mean hearted and the bigots.

Where Do You Stand On Homosexuality?

    Re: A Conversation with God

    "God, I have a problem."

    "What's the problem, Eve?"

"I know that you created me and provided this beautiful garden and
all of these wonderful animals, as well as that hilarious comedic snake,
    >but I'm just not happy."

    "And why is that Eve?"

"God, I am lonely, and I'm sick to death of apples."

"Well, Eve, in that case, I have a solution. I shall create a man for you."

    "Man? What is that God?"

"A flawed creature, with many bad traits. He'll lie, cheat and be vain.
All in all, he'll give you a hard time. But he'll be bigger, faster and
like to hunt and kill things. I'll create him in such a way that he will satisfy
your physical needs. He will be witless and will revel in childish things
like fighting and kicking a ball about. He won't be as smart as you, so he
will also need your advice to think properly."

"Sounds great," says Eve, with ironically raised eyebrows, "but is there a catch?"

"Well.....you can have him on one condition. "

    "What is that God?""

"As I said, he'll be proud, arrogant and self admiring..... so you'll have
to let him believe that I made him first. And it will have to be our little
secret........ you know, woman to woman."

    Slip,
no where did I say I hate homosexuals. People who attack people for being gay, handicapped, a diferent race etc. are small minded mean arrogant sons of bitches. (I think we can agree to call them that can't we?)

I don't remember if it was this thread or another one that I said we are to love the sinner but hate the sin. Homosexuality, biblically speaking is a sin. It is no more or less a sin than any other sin. A gay man is more or less a person than any other sinner...myself included. The only diference may be that I accept the fact that I am not perfect and I rest in the grace and mercy of God, who, through His son Jesus Christ saved me and gave me a means to repent of my sins. Whether anyone else makes that decision or not is between them and God.

The thread asked what our stance was on homosexuality. So I answered, and I said why. You are the one twisting what I say and twisting what the Bible says just for the argument.

hmm... i seem to recall (check if you don't believe me, near the bottom of page 2) you being the first one to target me out... you called me out, i thought you wanted a debate or something... next time dont' start something you can't finish.

second of all, if you say anything to the sinner, then that's not loving them... the only way you could truely love the sinner hate the sin is if you accepted it's his choice to make, and that you can't change his mind, nor should you. freedom is love, if you are criticizing someone, then they're not free...

    Slip,
There's a diference between judging and taking a stand for what you believe is right. Christians have a saying that goes something like love the sinner hate the sin. With an issue that fires up an emotional response because its so controversial it does make it harder but its something we have to do.

Biblically, homosexuality is no diferent than any other sin. Sin is sin, no matter what it is. We can, and should, love and respect the person, without telling them we think what they are doing is right. If the person claims to be a Christian then we have the resposnibility to help that person overcome that sin, no matter what it is, and encourage them to come to repentence and restoration with God. We can not do that if we sin by being hateful towards the person themselves. However, if the person knows it is sin and refuses to repent then we have no choice but to ask them to leave the church. This process takes a lot of time and must be handled properly and biblically. This applies to all sin, not just homosexuality.
