    OG Drama/Speculation

ip info really doesn't mean much. for one, no one can trace anything back and know for sure who the user was at whatever time it was used. for another, ip's are static and change and/or shared constantly, which takes us back to the first statement.

now what is bad is posting incriminating evidence backed with pics that can be easily matched...i could go on and on but no time right now. but if you think about it all, including the logistics involved i think you'll see where i'm heading...logistics alone would hinder all but the largest of agencies and if they're on to you there's not much to do but run anyway...know what i mean?

Having worked for Bellsouth DSL I know for a fact these details are logged every time someone logs in over PPPoE. Tracing an IP address back to its user is easy as long as you have a timestamp to go along with it. Lots of broadband providers set DHCP leases to allow users to keep the same IP address for weeks at a time, even if they reboot or relogin. This makes it pretty simple to go back and audit logs.

You're right, the average user has nothing to worry about. But what about the subcools, Fets, and Zandors? Don't we WANT those guys posting here? The game has changed significantly for those types since the OG mess began. I imagine many will be asking themselves if it's even worth it to be online at this point.

Well, I can conclude one thing from all of this...
    I'm becoming a Cafe Member.
Long time since I wanted to be a member, plus, I can add my little $ cooperation through that.

As to IPs, I've always thought that if the authorities come and start shit, I'll just say: "Hey man, I have an open WiFi network here... god know's if it was Osama that was posting his White Widow grows..."
Right after I say that, I'll call my lawyers. Every one of them.

    Thanks for everything guys,

sharing of sensitive information has come to a screeching halt on the northcoast of America...no more pics, IM's, PM's etc...Those who grew, dont anymore, those who shared, have clamped it shut...

alas, isnt this EXACTLY the way things always go???

Be safe, be careful, be patient, and be very very quiet, dont cough too loudly!!!

I too haven't posted on Overgrow for a while, sort of retired from being an active poster, but I mourn for the site. I followed ~s~ through the various iterations and am glad to hear he is OK. But what a shame. Granted, there was a lot of crap on the site, and a lot of real idiots posting nonsense in large volumes. But there was also gold there, and the sheer volume of information lost is very sad. Ah well, nothing lasts forever.

Actually, if they change, they're dynamic. Static means the same.

Very interesting read... but I'm left almost all the same...

I didn't do business there... nor posted over @ OverGrow... but, what the fuck will happen to those that did?

QUESTION: What happened with Marc Emery and his bust? I'm still not clear... did he cooperate with the DEA? I've seen people calling him Marc the Narc.... but... why?

    ?..?..... s.d.fs.d.f..e.

    Best,
