    following in fathers footsteps

    hey anybody, got a question... im am germinating the seeds, and a few to seem to have grown some.. um... hair?? could this be mold maybe? does it happend alot? was just useing paper towel methode. so i switched my better seeds and tried with the paper towel and put it in a zip lock baggy and blew some air in to them. the ones are on their 4th day and still havent sprouted.. so i grabed 3 more and gunna start some more maybe it was just a bad batch? thanks all.

    I could never get the paper towel method to work either...just drop them into a glass of water and put it in a cupboard. Check every 12 hours until you can just see the root through the cracked seed casing. Should take no more than a day or two.

    When germinating seeds just put a cloth in a plate. Fold it in half and keep it moist. The warmer it stays the faster the seeds will grow (heat activates growth). Dont let it get above 95* though. Let dry seeds soak in glass of water and swirl them around hourly. I let mine soak for 3-5 hours and they open up within 48 hours. Some seeds are no good and there is nothing you can do... accept it. That hair you see isn't mold, Its normal. I have 9 2"-5" seedlings that have the same hairs.

    Thanks for the info Earthy. Im glad im not the only one with hairy seeds.. ill give the glass of water thing a try and let ya know how it works for me.

    I'd be interested in seeing pics. If the hairs are coming straight of the seed case then it actually may be mold. Get a gallon of water and put a cap full of bleach in there. That'll stop/kill mold if you DO have a problem. Good luck bud
