hey anybody, got a question... im am germinating the seeds, and a few to seem to have grown some.. um... hair?? could this be mold maybe? does it happend alot? was just useing paper towel methode. so i switched my better seeds and tried with the paper towel and put it in a zip lock baggy and blew some air in to them. the ones are on their 4th day and still havent sprouted.. so i grabed 3 more and gunna start some more maybe it was just a bad batch? thanks all.
exoticnoise Reviewed by exoticnoise on . following in fathers footsteps To start off this thread i have to tell my story. My father recently died about 7 months ago due to a drunk driver. He was a very large pot grower. He has left me with some very nice supplys and decided to try and continue on the traditon. I have not had very much experience with growing except from what i saw him and his buddies do. He has left me with 7 1000watt sodium lights, all with timers, heat controls, and reflectors. So my question is, he has a bag of about 15 seeds labeld white widow Rating: 5

I could never get the paper towel method to work either...just drop them into a glass of water and put it in a cupboard. Check every 12 hours until you can just see the root through the cracked seed casing. Should take no more than a day or two.
Here is a link to a more in depth explanation of how to do it :

When germinating seeds just put a cloth in a plate. Fold it in half and keep it moist. The warmer it stays the faster the seeds will grow (heat activates growth). Dont let it get above 95* though. Let dry seeds soak in glass of water and swirl them around hourly. I let mine soak for 3-5 hours and they open up within 48 hours. Some seeds are no good and there is nothing you can do... accept it. That hair you see isn't mold, Its normal. I have 9 2"-5" seedlings that have the same hairs.

I'd be interested in seeing pics. If the hairs are coming straight of the seed case then it actually may be mold. Get a gallon of water and put a cap full of bleach in there. That'll stop/kill mold if you DO have a problem. Good luck bud
