Flowering time

When you guys keep track of how long your plant is flowering, what day do you consider day 1?????

The day you switch the lights to 12/12??

Or the first day you see the white pistils??

Have always kindof wondered since everyone knows certain strains go for certain lengths of time, usually 7 - 10 weeks.

So again....When is day 1?????
