Vaporizers
I have been interested in getting a vaporizer. I have had many respiratory problems since childhood and now in my 40's the smoke is getting to me. I smoke to relieve the pain from rheumatoid athritis. and glaucoma. I have done some research and the more I research the more confused I get! Yes before the screaming begins I know the Volcano is sent from zues himself. That is great for you who can afford to put out $5oo+. I have read more than a few article that say the volcano is coming down on price because the new models are coming out that work way better. Would like to hear from some people who have resonable priced vaps. I was interested in the vapor bros. models but heard that don't really work that well and take a long time to heat up. So let's hear what everyone here who uses one has to say. Thanks

Yeah the vapezilla is the one I would get if I could afford such ridiculous prices. The Vapezilla web site shows 3 products that look good. It is the opinion of everyone that the volcano will come down in price fast in the next couple of month because of the Vapezilla. So BIG WICKed do tell how you got it for 2 bucks or can have it. R U talking about DIY. Thanks for the reply men!

OK SO HERE WE GO
Needed Shit
1. Glass mason jar (for stewed tomatoes...etc.)with screw on lid.
2. lil bit of vinyl tubing - can get this at any local hardware store- costs like 50cents a foot and u only need about 1/2 ft.
3. small candle (those little candles that fit in the glass holders work best)
so heres what u do...
first take the mason jar lid and cut a hole in the center of it- this is kinda hard. just use a hammer/screwdriver, or try to cut it or some such shit. try to make it a bit smaller than the vinyl tubing so when u push the tube through it will stay airtight.
then push the tube through the hole so its half in half out....put the lid back on the jar so the tube is half in the jar half out.

now u have the main chamber of the vaporizer and all u gotta do is one more thing....just set up a little stand or something, so that the flame comes about 1 or 2 inches from the bottom of the jar where u will put the crushed up herb....so the flame slowly heats the bud and then u can such it out through the tube....
like so....
//

so its pretty easy, i made one in about 20 minutes, and once u get it set, all u gotta do is wait 2-3 minutes and the little fluffy white vapor will fill ur jar and ull be flying high..
Also if u wanna make it airtight just wrap some string around the tube on the top and bottom of the lid and tape it up real tight, this will prevent some loss of vapor - but its not really necessary....
WELL hope all u jah heads enjoy this - lemme know how u like it!!!!

do you have any actual pics of it in action?
did you ever try that solder gun method? I have pretty much no idea how to make that with the explanation...

one more thing...how can you suck out the vapor if the whole thing is air tight?...once you put suction on the thing, there will be no place for the fresh air to come in to replace the vapor/air you are trying to suck out...it 's like puting a vacuum hose onto your hand, it just is going to stay stuck to it without any air transfer...

Just how does the flame get to the herb or are you just heating up the glass? Don't know how you heat it up without holding the jar and have it burn your hand. Now that soldering gun sounds interesting has anyone tried it? I thought of this as a alternative to the old butane lighters. Also thought of the old wood burning tools.

Hey, Nutranater -
I know your pain...seriously. I have lupus. As someone with an autoimmune disorder, you KNOW you shouldn't smoke anything. I usually ingest the herb cooked, baked, made into a drink, etc. I haven't smoked it in about 4 years. I decided I wanted a decent vaporizer for an occasional toke a few months ago, so I went down to my local shop to check out what was available, and what the salespeople would recommend. They had the Volcano, and when I asked them what they thought, they said it works fine, but is a bit overrated...hence the ridiculous price. They suggested a Vapor Brothers, and after a bit of discussion, I ended up buying one for a little less than 200 bucks. The sales guy owned one himself and assured me I would be very pleased. Well, he was right! It works really well, I can leave it on my desk in my den as it looks like a desk accessory, and I have no complaints. Check it out at http://www.vaporbrothers.com. It's also less of a hassle to use than the Volcano, & since you have RA, you'll appreciate not having to mess around with your hands too much. The only inconvenience is having to change the screen in the whip (how often depends on how much you smoke), but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. The written directions are clear and explicit. I'm very pleased, and it beats the hell out of making your own out of spare parts!
