margarine contains trans fatty acids, and partially hydrogenated oils which make you fat. Nice advice^^

It's my understanding (and I could be wrong, I ususally am) that it's the fat that the thc sticks to. I say go with good old unsalted butter.

cannibutter or cana-oil?
When it comes to between butter and oil, oil is a worse choice.
Oil boils at a staggering 570 degrees F. This is well over the 400 degrees it takes for THC to vaporize and for you to loose all your product. so even if your not boiling it, you may be loosing vasts amounts of THC>
Butter, on the other hand, has a boiling point between that of water and THC. so as long as you dont boil the butter, you will not loose any of the thc. This allows you to safely extract the THC into the butter without fear.
there are two ways to extract it into the butter,
the first way is to bring a pot of water to boiling temperature. melt the butter in the boiling water, and then mix in your ground up herbs, stir and boil for an hour or so. then you cool it in the fridge, and the butter seperates from the water/bud goo on top, making straining alot easier.
the other way is to saute' the bud in the butter in a frying pan. This was is more dangerous because the extra bud raises the boiling temperate to an unkown level, and you would have to moniter its temperature to be sure its not over heating. after an hour or so you strain the butter if you want to (i prefer not to) and voala.
this has been a Stangle study
