will they let me donate plasma or do i need to go out and buy a system flushing concoction?

No they don't test for that. I used to donate for some extra cash when I first started college. Most of the time we'd smoke before we went.

I donated twice a week for about 7 or 8 months without any negative effects.

Bring a book or something to listen to.... it's kind of boring.

At the place I donated you got paid a little bonus if you went a second time durring the week. I believe it was $60 a week... $25 for the first donation and $35 for the second donation. This was like 7 years ago. It's not much, we just did it for extra beer money.

I didn't think it hurt at all. Half the time I'd fall asleep while it was going on, which they don't like btw... they think you passed out or something.
