All this Bush bashing is well and good but let's deal with something constructive, shall we?

Sometimes I see my government as Windows XP. It has been better than just about any other form of government in the world over the last couple hundred years. However, there are too many people and groups that have learned to hijack the system and I believe it is time for us to apply a service pack.

IMHO, there are just a couple things we need to do to clean up most of the problems. These are things that I picked up on from listening to other activists. Please allow me to list them.

1) Campaign Finance- We need to have polititions go onto at least 75% campaign funds from public dole. Right now they are going into office beholden to everyone else but us for their money to get elected. We need to seperate them from that cash or otherwise they will never truly be working for us.

2) Voting- Right now there is no way for us to check and see how our representatives vote on any issue. How are we supposed to make sure that we even want to vote for them again? That we agree with their vote or that they are voting the same way they said they would to get elected? We can't tell what they are doing and that is why we end up with a pork laden highway bill, as an example. There needs to be more accountability and this would provide it.

3) Voters Initiative- We need a better mechanism for activists to state their views and have more open debate. Often important issues never get any attention and should be brought forward for thought and debate by the general public as well as in Congress.

I'm sure others have their own ideas of other changes and I honestly would love to hear them. I like my government and have no interest in switching to a different form. I do believe we need a few changes though.
