The Half Ton Man!!!
First off, nice post, and I totally understand where you're coming from. Glad to hear you actually took affirmative action instead of denying the real issue and staying at level zero. Kids don't belong on diets for sure! It's not their problem, children need to undergo passively the full package of society, and they do respresent the future.

Denying the essence of the problem doesn't get us anywhere. Even our governments, who can't be trusted, are releasing the bare numbers. In the streets, in the charts, in the books, in the pictures... Children / people are getting heavier. And even more so, we can reasonably assume that that is the result of a whole lot of different factors. We get such an amount of things lunged at our heads, because of an incredible increase in information we don't see what is obvious. It's the combination that does it.
Bad exercise (i know, it sounds rough but it's proven! americans take less than 5000 steps a day, this is not an overstatement or an exaggeration. just the way it is.)
Bad food (does this need to be clarified? We see it ourselves, i'm always prone to eat the less healthy things, and sometimes we indulge.)
Eating bad & a lot (everybody's allowed to a treat sometimes, but in my opinion, and i say each his own, but not at his own risk. eating too much is an addiction. chocolate is proven to be an addiction. fast food has a lot of addictive things in it, also proven, sorry to say, it's so tasty though)
So called health food. (sigh.. this is hard to try to convince people of. most health food is a joke. most yoghurt drinks contain as much sugar as a coke bottle, sry man this sounds soo passé too, but it's a fact, and it does not cease to exist right, and of course, wholegrain is great.. but not with extra double cream crunch caramel cover right? and so on. they just make more money selling more, i've read that somewhere in your posts, no?)
I know these bold things again come over as a preaching about obesity, how I try, over and over again, i'm sounding like a preacher man, I hate it, again, to each his own, not at his own risk though
I mean come on, after carefull consideration of these things we could conclude there's a problem right? I hold the governments responsible, and myself to do something about it. And i will try, i swear. Apart from that sry for the long reply, but I'm trying, right?
cheers, and good luck doin' great & love the posts

Good post lemonboy but one thing we disagree on is the kids needing a diet and exercise. I have yet to see one fit child in this neighborhood..literally. What are the more serious issues with todays children? I may be wrong but my opinion right now is that the majority I have interaction with are spoiled fat brats and thats not me being cruel but truthful. I wouldn't advise eating only salads and running 10 miles a day (extreme) but working greens into your habits every day and taking a healthy walk that is longer than from the couch back to the t.v. wouldn't hurt right? Congratulations on your weight loss...quite an accomplishment... And I buy the blue lid yoplait yogurt, the good yogurt...so yes it is about information but eventually an individual has to accept their problems and fix them or at least learn to deal with them in a positive manner so the end result is not destroying yourself. I do enjoy your posts most of the time and this was one of the better ones imo.

I'm not sure we disagree altogether. I do think kids need diet and exercise, just not dictated regimens. Ideally the whole family unit would observe healthy eating habits. Families should eat at home and cook together. You see, when I say weight is a manifestation of a larger problem it can be so many things. A breakdown of discipline is certainly one of them but it's not the child's fault that it occurs. To a certain age of course. I'm talking about kid kids here.

Back where I come from Jonas Salk was a hero...these days its Hollywood and the physically beautiful so I guess it would be self doubt for children these days. When it comes to kids I am totally in the dark about their ways sometimes...is it really that difficult on children these days? What could make a man resort to inflicting pain on himself like this? And something else...as I am sure you are finding out...when you are physically attractive by societys standards..most of the time you are also more successful yes? Not saying its right but just truth?

I have a younger sister but she is starting to get past the age I'm talking about. I don't think kids have it any easier than adults in terms of problems and stresses. As we get older our world gets bigger and our problems become less juvenile but that doesn't make them any less taxing on the soul. I think an enormous amount of stress is placed on the American child to perform well because this is how we measure our kids in everything they do. Not to mention the countless individuals exposed to all kids of abuse, be it mental or physical. These scars eventually show.

As for being more successful, again I think it's being able to form these initial connections with people quicker.
