adderall and ACT
I have to take the ACT assessment on the eleventh, this upcoming Saturday. I am currently on 20mg XR capsules of Adderall, and I need to know if any of you think it is a wise idea to use it during the test?
I do have the disorder, ADHD, which actually means I undergo a paradoxical effect from normal speed users, or from what I have read.
Do you think the amphetamine will increase my overall score, or will it fuck me over as far as timing and irritability is concerned? It helps me focus unbelievably, which has dramatically improved my concentration and motivation inside the class hours.
Keep in mind I am sixteen. Also, what do you think about taking an extra during the examination process? I don't prepare to, but I am planning on attending an IV Leage University and I need every bit of edge I can get.

I would say that you should take them. First of all, your body is used to them and if you dont take them you will probably have trouble concentrating as well as you usually do. Second, adderall helps alotta people recall information and remember information much more easily... Its up to you thought. Its meant to help you concentrate and I would reccommend taking them before the test.

if you were even remotely close to going to an "IV League School" you would of realized it the Ivy League and that most require you to take the SAT and 2 SAT II's and not your silly little ACT.

Well, I typed that really fast without much content as far as focusing on spelling. I'm currently attending an Art Center, and with very exceptional recommendations from my teachers, I'm sure I can get a scholarship to a well put-together "Ivy Leage" University. There, just for you asshole. I didn't ask for the proofreading of a Message Board post, so if you only have negative remarks concerning grammar and spelling errors, save them from someone who actually takes the time to correct themselves.
As far as the previous user (before the asshole) I appreciate your reply.
P.S. It's Princeton; they do prefer the SAT, however, I am also aware that they accept the ACT as well. So before you make a careless post, why don't you read up on the requirements for admission.

seeing that i go to Columbia i think i know a little bit about the admissions process ok buddy
anyway i would suggest using it ESPECIALLY if you have ADHD
i dont have any type of learning disorder and i used 54mg Concerta many times to help me through academically stressful times
but honestly, it boils down to your personal preferance. if you think you will perform better without the jitteriness that accompanies Adderall don't use it; however if you think it will help you to focus and will increase your performance on the test go for it.
by the way, you shouldn't call people you don't know names its just ignorant. also seeing that you cannot even decide for youself whether or not to use a drug to help your academic performance, i wouldn't suggest wasting your time applying to an ivy league school. might i suggest stanford, they will hopefully help you think for youself more. also as an added bonus you do not need to take the SAT II if you apply there if my memory serves me correctly, all you will need is your silly little western ACT score
And yes the ACT is silly, it was peanuts compared to the SAT. i took it because i was thinking about applying to schools on the west coast but changed my mind.

Thankyou. You see, now that was very helpful; I couldn't stress how much that actually helped me in my decision. It's great to receive productive advice from a current student, that attends a prospective University. That post, unlike your earlier, actually had benefits in aiding my decision and confusion.
I was majorly focused on Princeton because of their Creative Writing Department, as well as many other occupational departments I am preparing to enter. I was actually misdiagnosed as ADHD, as a young child, when I actually contain a medical syndrome that is located upon the Autistic Spectrum, Asperger Syndrome. Adderall, as far as a tool in motivation and focusing, has been immaculate when used in the correct dosage. It's a beautiful thing.
Secondly, as far as Stanford, that's an interesting statement. The only legit reason I had asked for assistance in the first place wasn't necessarily based on the fact that I don't know what I should do, myself, as far as the medication is involved and applied to my condition. But rather, it was because I enjoy gathering informative precautions from others who have had experience with the testing procedure, like yourself. By getting another perspective on the situation, I can become universal in my decision and outlook towards the subject of testing and being awarded with a decent, if not above-average, score.
Thankyou very much. It was useful. Effective.

If your considering a creative writing major and a future career, I would suggest not taking Adderall through college unless absolutely necessary. In my experience amphetamines hinder creativity. However, it is a wonderful drug when memorization and regurgitation is required. It is also extremely helpful when attempting to finish procrastinated term paper
. Good luck with your application process. I would suggest to your more schools but I am not familar with the the calibers of Creative Writing departments. I myself am in my first year of a 5 year MBA program.

Yeah, I have been told that quite often. The whole "Amphetamines cancelling out the creativity". And in some ways, you're correct. But from my experience with the substance, as a writer/painter/musician, it doesn't seem to drain my imaginative impulses, however, it does weaken the original spontaneity in my craft, sometimes making it difficult to flourish artistically.

Have you ever tried combining it with some sort of hallucinogen? That way you wouldn't compromise your focus and at the same time enhance your creative edge.
Of course not during the ACT haha.

Princeton is awesome. Unfortunately they are biased against the ACT (I think it has somethin to do with that scam of a college board being based in Princeton, NJ) so I really, really advise you to take both the SAT and the ACT. They prefer the SAT but I got in with a mediocre SAT a really high ACT. As far as the adderall goes I can't really provide help there but if you think itll help you by all means go for it...you can always take the ACT again. Also if you think Princeton is your absolute top choice you really should apply early decision, because it vastly improves your chances. The creative writing at Princeton is awesome, and the entire arts program just got a $101 million donation to expand. Good luck, and Stanford sucks.
