Conservative sworn in as Canadian PM

Gotta love his plan of cutting taxes, removing the trash, and taking a closer look at some hot button issues. Way to go Canada!!

from what I can tell so far, Harper is not shit, sure he's a little too far to the right for my taste, especially on social issues, but i think a fiscally conservative government will do Canada some good. Plus, to all the people afrais he would alienate Quebeckers, well, with 10 MPs and 5 Quebeckers in the cabinet (Alberta, where Harper's from, only has 4 cabinet ministers...), not to mention a conscious effort in making a lot of official speeches in French, then in English, shows a lot of effort put into the Quebec issue, much more than Liberals anyway.

The downside to this is that they will now probably cooperate fully with the DEA. This could be the end of BC and the Marc Emery's as we know it.

It's true that on the drug issue, things are very bleak... But the fact that they have a minority government helps keep them in check. In other words, if they try to pass legislation that a lot of people don't like, the government falls. Let's hope they won't go too far...
