Extremist christians have been known many times to protest works of art or literature which they have not even seen, read or understood. Works that are truly reverent in heart and mind get regularly labeled as blasphemous.

Though I'm sure it's been done, a cartoon depicting the Iraq war as a christian crusade (with jesus at the lead) could not be published in a major paper without generating more than a peep of a response.

no point here...all the artist would get for drawing this(as per your exemple) would be censorship...no killing, no fires in embassy, no mass protest (maybe a couple lil protest)...labeling something blaspheamous is okay but killing people ain't...

I in no way condone the violence. I was replying to the suggestion that christian extremists are on the whole accepting of different and even opposing views. The fact that one of the biggest issues currently rising in the US is separation of church and state should be evidence enough that this suggestion is false.

well you right and for obvious reason that extremists are extremist, and i believe that they all fit in the same basket no matter their beliefs! and its normal that muslim extremist are opposing our views, but the way they protest this opposition only deserves more cartoons! only kidding but you're right christian extremist are no different than muslim extremist, except for the violent side of their protest...
