Do you support raising the minimum driving age?

Do you support raising the minimum driving age in your state? A lot of states want to raise the minimum driving age from 16 to 18. Iā??m 34 and absolutely will vote for this. The number of accidents and fatalities caused by drivers of the ages 16 and 17 are just shocking. Sure I was allowed to drive when I was 16 and when I think back to all the dangerous, stupid things I did in my car at that age it just makes me agree with this more. The combination of attitude and lack of experience at that age is a very deadly combination.

I for one will be going out of my way to vote for this in my state. What do you think? And please state your age with your answer.

i dont support raising it. I think they need to make it more difficult to pass the driving test, so that good drivers can drive while bad ones cannot

Driving tests do not take into account the attitude of the driver when their car is full of friends and not with a driving inpector! Statistics have show that the numbers of fatalities caused by 16 and 17 year old drivers are over double the number cause by 18 and 19 year olds.

please you guys, in my hometown anyways, raising the minimum driving age will just anger kids that have been made underage, and then, those kids 14-17 1/2, will go out with their cars, or parents cars in the dead of night, raising hell because they can't legally drive. yes, some will be caught, but keeping the driving age at 16 is IMPORTANT because if the kids that are of age take drivers ed and shit, yes they will know how to drive respectfully, and responsibly, but alll those kids getting drunk and driving their mommys cars around without any drivers education courses, will surely be more dangerous than a 17 year old who cant even take the damn course in the first place, and who should have already had his license.

I totally agree with you. I'll vote for that.

Dopesmoker, a harder test does not make a better driver. It takes time and experience.

Well that is just stupid because the punishment for driving without a license is so steep only total thugs would go out and break the law. And the majority of them would be caught and then not be able to drive until they were 21 or so. So that would be great. You underestimate how harsh the penalties are for being caught driving underage without a license!!

Then if it takes time and experience no age limit will be good enough.

I suppose there are pros and cons to raising or lowering the driving age

They would still have to take a driving course. It just wouldn't be in high school.
It's a shame how many kids die each year driving. Sometimes a whole car full of kids die at once. Driving is a PRIVLIDGE not a RIGHT.

i think that in sertain places...like california....its pretty necessary to drive a car to get through daily life. So having the age here be 16...its alright. ok im so over this thread..i dont even feel like goin on. But basically i also hate seeing lil fukn bitch kids driving cars cuz they can barely look over the wheel and fuck em damn.

hee hee! my Exact point fellows: good driving takes TiME....YES!!! of course!

but i think you are mis-understanding my point; true, good driving takes time and experience, but i think that the driving age should be the same, because i mean, hello????, you need PRACTICE to excel. if you cant even take driver's ed til 17 1/2, then thats a whole year and a half that you could have spent practicing driving skills. in some cases, maturity might assist with good behavior, but not that much will come from only 2 years in my opinion, but i can Definately see your reasons for thinking the way that you are.

    Very Interesting Indeed.
