I didnt mean just armed i mean extremely armed as in if a country attempted to invade their entire continent would be a smoking hole. i know that very few people agree with me but i am a very militaryistic person. if thats a word

Yeah I guess I just don't agree. But history can usually answer any questions about this. How many military-based countries have survived for extended periods of time without the rest of the world invading? The Roman Empire was around for a while... Are any still around today besides the emerging US? I can't remember a situation in a country where military might has led to international or long-term economic success.

well Stalin turned the soviet union from a fledgling agricultural nation into a powerful military based country with a strong economy but the leaders that followed him turned it to shit and it eventually collapsed. As long as one doesnt go nuts amazing things can be done.

Yeah, Stalin did amazing things to stay in power....? Maybe do some research. I feel like he gets alot of positive credit when he wasn't exactly a "amazing" guy. He didn't have too many friends before or after WWII.

living standards were still pretty low though, and at the end of the day it's how the people can live that matters.

China is another example they are rapidly upgrading their military making it more and more powerful while having a very strong economy

living standards were low compared to what people see now.....there are very rich people now and very poor people.....at that time everyone was equal. And in Russia now the economy is worse and they arent even a very military based country anymore and now 40% of the country is in poverty
