What would you do if made dictator of the US?

So if I was made dictator of the United States, here's the policies I'd implement. Some more conservative Americans may find me a bit too socialist for their tastse, but everybody's whelcome to contribute their vision. My policies go as follows:


- Legalize and control marijuana like alchohol or tobacco.

- Make the sales of tobacco illegal (not the use)

- Set a mandatory minumum percentage of employees hired within your own nation for companies.

- Make some serious efforts towards changing to non-polluting fuel sources and getting off our dependance on oil.

- a considerably less interferring foreign policy. which means no more bullshit wars, no more policing the world unless absolutely necessary. no more hypocracy in foreign policy, such as telling the world who can and can't have nuclear weapons while having the biggest stock pile of our own. and on that note:

- eliminate the nuclear weapons program, and perfect the anti-nuclear defense system.

- restructure NASA to quit wasting so much money on sending probes to murcury and the such, and start putting that funding into strickly technology research and missions that serve more purpose than giving buddies contracts.

- apologise to the muslim world for all the bushshit (and pre-bushshit), start working on middle eastern peace without blowing thousands of families to bits.

- assuming I could stop it beforehand, I'd not invade Iraq (because it being part of the "war on terror" is bullshit) and put part of that money into real homeland security.

- significantly reduce america's military, but sensibly. IE as stated before eliminate the nukes, plus make big reduction to the forces and spend more on giving the soldiers the best training and equipment as a smaller, elite force. and I'd reduce huge amounts of the bullshit military power that serves no purpose other than giving buddies in the defense industry contracts. for instance, if you combined the entire worlds navy, you'd have 54% of America's navy. there's no need for one that big, I'd be scrapping some battleships, subs, fighters, and aircraft carriers for sure.

- create a 2 teired health care system, not like they have now, but more like Germany's or other european contries who have some excellent ones. although, I'd have considerably bigger government subsidies than to help people pay. I know a lot of people would cry out for a strickly public system, but as we've learned here in Canada, it's not really sustainable. I'd rather the governemtn subsidize to the largest extent possible for those who can't afford the insurance, or aren't adaquately covered by their insurance and pick up the rest.

- with the reduction and optimization to the military, the huge surpluss of money from that would be put into education (and of course my healthcare plan). that includes much bigger college subsidies.

- stop putting people in jail for simple posession. rather, if they're caught with a serious illegal drug, I'd have it written on their permanent reccord. 3 strikes, and it's in to forced rehabilitation. no rehab for those caught with small amounts with convictions 5 years apart (or so), so as to separate the junkies from the experimentors.

- stop all this wiretapping, freedom degenerating bullshit that's going on.

- reduce the national and coast guard, and seriously increase the border security.

- reserve the death penalty for the more insanely serial killers, like Ted Bundy, and war criminals.

- all current national anti-drug funding will be put into campaigns that give people and kids real, unbiased drug information.

- Ban the teaching of intelligent design in schools (sorry, I know that will offend some, but that's just my particular view on the matter).

- institute some major programs to get kids out of gangs and keep them from joining.

- provide more healthy lifestyle and illness prevention programs.

- allow stem-cell research, so long as no conscious beings are created and only clusters of cells are created. otherwise I don't see why we couldn't get the cells from aborted fetuses. (don't get started on the abortion issue now, I don't like it either, but there are times when it's necessary).

- long-term involuntary imprisonment with psychiatric care, in separate facilities, for sex offenders and pedophiles on a 1st offense. harsher penalty for second offense. chemical castration for 3rd offense, plus the offender is listed on a predator watch-list, and kept under surveilance.

- Have the marijuana industry replace the alchohol industry. Ban corporate sales of alchohol, but allow personal use and production at home, to a specified limit.

- start up a good-sized hemp farming industry (one of the most versatile and and long-lasting pruducts out there). I am aware that our economy is based on a disposable society, but it's not a sustainable one, and is an economy that will have to be shrunk.

- put serious funding into environmental restoration, pollution reduction, waste reduction, etc. costly perhapse, but too important an issue to put on the back burner any longer.

- immediate long jailtime and then extradition for importing harmfull drugs such as coke and heroin into the country in huge quantities from whatever the hell nation they come from. then, when they're sent home after their setence, death penalty if they set foot in the nation again.

hmmm, I posted this in another forum and got the same reaction, so I'll have to clarify once again. we're not actually discussing whether or not the US should have a dictatorship, we're just removing your limitations to make the hypothetical situation possible and your ideas fully implementable (is that a word? well I'm dictating that it is ).

now lets pretend you're dictator, it all works out some how, and you'll live forever.

If anybody's interested, I posted this same thread in the other forums I frequent (rammstein forums). Everybody's tried to call me a fool for legalizing weed and I totally beat them into the ground . *sigh* but some people just won't change their view in the face of obvious evidence to the contrary.

I say legalize weed and tax it along with everything else mind altering, but send proceeds to the school systems (like a lottery or something) and force everyone of legal age to vote or be exiled.

Yea, that's true. Besides, to be trully effective, all little things would have to be voted on. Take some power away from the president and give it back to the people. There should have been a vote before we invaded any country.
