How can you say Herb has it's deleterious effects, and regardless of what anyone says? Are you encouraging ignorance?

"Healthy" living -- is it ever too late?
Sophia,
To answer your question. No I am not in the medical profesion. I have a passion for science.
Keep this in mind.
Mainstream Doctors cannot talk about ascorbic acid over the usrda amount.
They are regulated by law and face felony and disbarrment for doing so.
This has been told to me by 5 M.Ds in two states. Just as your Dentist is not allowed to tell you that mercury amalgam is harmful he faces the same outcome, this also told to me by a Dentist. Yet like I told you this is one of the most toxic substances on the planet and has no place in the human body because it leaches into the pulp then the blood stream and settles in the internal organs.
The usrda has long been challenged by many scientists and physicists for many years concerning ascorbic acid. They have always believed it is far too low and believe it is kept low for a reason. Think about it.
The usrda of ascorbic acid is merely enough to prevent a state of scurvy, and that is all. The condition of acute induced scurvy is far more dangerous as many diseases are not recognized by mainstream medicine as being acute induce scurvy states. They are simply catagorized as individual diseases and "treated" for high costs to the patients and insurance companies.
When medical Doctors are trained in school they rely on peer related review material for study. The majority of this peer related review material comes from the pharmaceutical industry. It is biased.
Many students in the medical profession have been misled and when they practice medicine never mention anything outside of pharmacuetical products, either through ignorance or fear. So a clear line is drawn. There is mainstream pharmaceuticals and practices and there is orthomocular medicine.
I am surprised how many mainstream doctors issue antibiotics yet never inform their patients to follow up with a probiotic, (good bacteria for the stomach). Most antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria. This causes more problems in the body.
A true Doctor should be allowed to cross the line and treat the patient with both methods. And that is what the true hypocratic oath is meant to be. But it isnt. Its biased.
One other point. Ascorbic acid cannot be patented. Therefore it is not profitable.
The worst distaster in human health has been ignoring the fact that ascorbic acid is essential to the prevention of many diseases and the fact that it is ignored as a natural defect throughout our evolution due to our inability to synthetize it through the loss of one enzyme in three in the liver.
As I mentioned the four beings that cannot synthesize it naturally are the human, the primate, the guinea pig and the fruit eating bat. All other mammals synthesize it naturally in the liver. Reptiles synthesize it in the kidneys.
It is a survival mechanism, for disease and stress.
So why dont eskimos get scurvy? They dont have a citrus source?
It is a tradition that eskimos eat parts of the seal. The eyes and the liver for its ascorbic content. It is viewed more in terms of tradition to health as opposed to actual science to how it works. They know it prevents disease and all family members share in these parts of the seal.
What I compiled for you yesterday is based on many resources.
One most notibly comes from the worlds only twice held noble prize winner, Linus Pauling, In my view and many others the greatest humanitarian scientist to have lived. He devoted his entire career to research on this subject alone. Many more followed beside him and after him in his works.
Others included are a research scientist from Stanford University. Another is from a research scientist from the University of Washington, and another is an Opthomoligist and his work experimenting with medium doses of ascorbic, as the blood vessels in the whites of the eyes are a window into the overall health of the rest of the arterial health of the body.
Amazing images of just one week showing anyourisms in the whites of the eye and swollen arterial vessels reduced and strengthened.
Linus Pauling believed that it is very important to mimick what other mammals produce naturally in the liver through an external source. This means that spill over into the kidneys was important as all other mammals do this naturally, especially when diseased or stressed.
Here are the current recommended daily allowances of ascorbic acid.
Daily intake Source
60-95mg. USRDA intake (about all this does is
prevents scurvy).
200mg. LPI & Levin/NIH intake
3000mg (3grams) Vitamin C foundation intake
6000-12000mg. (6-12grams) Dr. Levy's daily recommended intake
6000-18000mg. (6-18grams) Linus Pauling's recommended intake
6000-9000mg. (6-9grams) Pregnancy/ s.i.d.s. prevention
6000-18000mg. (6-18grams) Heart disease, Linus Pauling
14000-30000mg. (14-30grams) Cancer,(with glycemic control)
20000-300000mg (20-300grams) Cathcart/Levy cure for infectious
disease. Using bowel tollerance method
and Sodium ascorbate I.V. methods or
combinations. 50,000 people treated
using these methods.
If you supplement with ascorbic you can find it at any health food store in a variety of forms. Its all the same substance. To calculate milligrams to grams just move decimal point 3 place to the left. Ex. 1000mg.=1gram.
DO NOT use magnesium ascorbic. Only pure ascorbic powder. Mix with juice or water, however its bitter with water alone, or juice that has no sugar, as sugar spikes insulin which intefers with ascorbic uptake. spaced doses 4xday.
Lots of water with it.
You can combine it in powdered form and with capsule form, its all the same. Tablets are hard on the stomach. Or just use capsules. If you use the powder form just brush your teeth with water only as it is mildly acidic to teeth enamel. So consider capsule form.
But when under an infectious disease state use powder form to increase the doses, (you would never get enough capsules down)
Always space doses to maintain plasma levels. It is passed out in the urine within hours. Plasma spikes 24hrs later.
Many free radical based diseases can be "flash oxidized" in the arteries within hours using sodium ascorbate I.V.
Strep, Staph, pneumonia, flu, etc. histamine from toxic insects i.e brown recluse, black widows, etc. snake bites, ANYTHING which produces a free radical cascade on the body. "titration" method must be used i.e until you get diarea this is based on the severity of the disease which will determine that at which it occurs.
Sodium ascorbate I.V. is 2.5 times faster and effective than oral route. A combination of both can be used.
Antibiotics are synergistic with ascorbic acid. Probiotic needed after.
Certain viruses can be ameliorated as it interfers with the virus shell preventing them to shed.
90% of hospitals do not carry sodium ascorbate or use it even though it is safe and effective. You must find an orthomolecular doctor. The mainstream hospital version is claimed to be too diluted to be of any use anyway as compaired to making it from scratch sodium ascorbate crystals.
The best is mixed from scratch by an orthomocular doctor. You must know what your doing for this and bowell tollerance doses of oral ascorbic when treating an infectious free radical based disease.
Vitamin E must be taken with oral method to prevent hemolysis of red blood cells. You should also follow up with a probiotic after, (yogurts, and other positive culture bacteria for the stomach as the ascorbic is hard on the friendly bacteria in higher doses).
It can be used to naturally increase the body's own interferon levels for aids patients. It does not cure aids. Patients have found it more effective than "cocktail" drugs which have horrible side effects.
It is used in Austrailia to treat heroin withdraw effectively. It calms withdrawl symptoms and stabilizes seratonin and cravings.
It can emeliorate, not cure, viral hepatitis by interfering with the viral shell.
It is effective against many other viruses.
90 out of 90 people were effectively cured of poliomelitus, (polio) in the 1950s by Dr. F.R. Klenner using a combination of both methods, (another great pioneer).
Taking ascorbic acid will keep your arterial walls healthy, your skin from wrinkling from the smoking, keep collagen strong, protect the linings of your lung, fuel your lymphocytes,(especially with titration method when ill), reduce free radicals from smoking and many more things. It is the only substance in three which converts two others in the brain to seratonin.
One side effect of too much ascorbic is diarea. You shouldnt have a problem as that doesnt normally occur until much greater amounts. Just reduce if it occurs.
However that is the theory behind titration method for infectious disease developed by Stamford Doctor, Robert Cathcart. <search web for his site. Very informative. Also visit the Vitamin C foundation.
I urge you to read this and understand it:
"Ascorbic acid: Analog of the germ theory"
faculty.washington.edu/ely/JOM4.html
Its technical, there is an abbreviation list at the bottom of the page.
This knowledge will greatly help you with your decision to become healthy.
Learn as much as you can.
Take care.

Wow... great post.
Quick question, a couple of you recommended eating fish... lately I've been staying away from eating fish because I keep hearing about them being loaded with mercury. Are there some fish that's ok to eat and others I should stay away from?

One fish to stay away from is swordfish. Tuna also supposedly has high levels of mercury. But eating saturated fat and hydrogenated fat is proabably going to be a lot worse for you anyway, and fish fat is like the opposite of those fats, it helps to prevent and cure cardiovascular disease, and is antiinflammatory. Exercise is also antiinflammatory, and it is critical to create an antiinflammatory environment in your body. Inflammation is highly correlated with disease.
