Indoor Marijuana Growing - Vertical or Horizontal?
Indoor marijuana growers have many methods of soil growing. The most common of these are naturally, using low - stress straining ( LST ), or the sea of green ( SOG), screen of green ( SCROG), and supercropping.
Some growers have plenty of indoor room, and will let the plants develop naturally, to the height and width that nature intended. These plants reach their full potential in a matter of weeks, with top colas and/or side colas promoted by the marijuana`s unstunted natural growth. This method of growing is known as "nature`s way".
Low - stress training ( LST) is used when height must be kept at a minimum. The marijuana plant is trained to lie over on its side at an early age, with each successive stem trained in the same fashion. This method produces a low-lying, luxurious plant, with increased bud production due to the light reaching into the sides of the plant as well as the top.
The sea of green ( SOG) method is used for rapid flowering when lack of height and wattage are a major concern for the grower. Marijuana clones are planted closely together, vegetating time is short, and the plants are pushed into flowering and bud production while they are relatively small. This is an effective method of growing, and when the lighting is adequate the yields are generally good.
The screen of green ( SCROG) method is also used when height and wattage are a consideration. A screen, usually of netting, screenwire or chickenwire, is attached at a desired height above the plants. This allows the growing marijuana plants to begin to grow horizontally after reaching the height limit, thus keeping the canopy, or height, at an even level, which allows consistent light penetration into the growing plants. Many growers have a consistent high yield using this method.
Supercropping is an easy growth - training method for marijuana growers. This is simply cutting off the top of the main stem several times during its vegetative growth, leaving approximately 10% of the stem intact each time. This method induces the plant to generate the growth of additional side shoots, which in turn increases the overall bud production. This is a favorite method of many growers, due to the almost - guaranteed increased yields.
Whether you grow your marijuana plants strictly by nature`s way, or must use some method of plant - training, marijuana growing may be a successful venture with a consistent pleasing yield. Some growers use these methods out of necessity, while others choose to experiment with their grow out of sheer curiosity.
Time and trial is your most effective research. After trying several different types of grows, you will find the one that works best for you.

I think your best bet is LST if possible otherwise...like I said work the stalk in beetween your finger's until it's like pulpy and starts to fall over on it's own from were you sqeezed it.
when it hangs 90 degree's to the side,it will just heal and stay like that.If you do this do it high up enough that the wieght of the top cola wont brake the whole thing in half.imp:

jdog, i noticed that in the link you inclooded that the cannabis connisieur says to have 3x the space above the screen as below and he also alows his plants to grow that high above the screen. i have never seen scrog like this before and assume that with that method you could not attain the 2.34oz per sqft that alot of scrogger's boast. when doing scrog the most common way is to keep the plants at the level of the screen so just the buds grow above it. allowing the plants to go 36" above the screen seems to negate the effectiveness of scrogging. i could be wrong here but i have noticed if i don't spend enough time training in the 1st 2 weeks of flower then the plants end up to high over the screen and my yeild suffers. here are some more pics of my scroggs. see the difference?

Single Plant SCROG Grow.....Good Idea?
This is, the most interesting thread I've read about SCRoG here in the boards.
Please do keep it up, as I'm planning on doing SCRoG. The setup with the TV cabinet, looks really good. Kind of ghetto system, but hey, you can't argue with the results.
But I like it. Very uniform SCRoG.
Just a Seed,
The last picture (post #16), that's your SCRoG? I can definitely see the difference between that one and the TV cabinet one.
Question::: You say you didn't train enough... ???
Why, did you let them grow towards the light? Did you bend them less often?
I'm very interested in this, thanks!

Single Plant SCROG Grow.....Good Idea?
the reason i didn't train them enough in the last pic is because i have 2 young children and can only take care of my garden when they are in bed. i also run a small business so somtimes i just don't have the time. the tv stand is mostly cfls but the left side also has a 150hps. i get 4-6 oz per side when i harvest. has anyone looked at the link to c.c.'s scrog thread? i still don't understand why he allows the plants to grow so high above the screen.

I read the thread on SCRoG by CC, but I also don't understand why he says the 3:1 height rule (of thumb).
