Although, the waitresses in the cafes there, did seem to appreciate a friendly greetin..once they realized that I was sincere. I reckon that they were used to dealin with sour-faced yankees who only complain and make snide remarks.
Have a good one !

Are y'all Brits saying that if I pass someone on the street there, that they'd act like yankees and think that I'm up to no good - if I said Howdy and nodded my head at em ?

Hi Torog, I think if you said "howdy" to a passer by they would just think it's a bit unusual, as if someone from over here were to say somthing like " aye aye fit liken the day" or "Awrite mate?" you would probable think "what?" but not in a bad way if you know what I mean. :rasta:

Its only really in places like London where people tend to keep themselves to themselves. If you tried to talk to someone on the tube you would be considered very weird. Don't know much about the south other than London but up North everyones pretty friendly you can just chat to strangers.
