Why are we even in Iraq?

There's only one reason we have ever been involved in middle eastern issues and it ain't oil and it ain't civil rights and it ain't even some "vast right wing" conspiracy cooked up by the falwells and robertsons of the world to hasten armageddon or convert the heathens and it ain't even some idealistic attempt to bring democracy to the downtrodden...we have been screwing with the middle east and all the other cultures we have screwed with for one reason...Money!!
Just my opinion but it works for me.

I'll stick to the above reasons. We're not getting any "free oil" and their new oil contracts include such countries as Canada and Norway so it's not all about the U.S. sucking out all the oil.

As for the money...I really don't understand that one. Here's a cost counter for ya.

What do they want to do with the oil? I'm guessing sell it for (drumroll, please) money!

It's not so much the oil as the infrastructure, no bid contracts for food, security, roads, schools, transportation etc etc etc. (can you say Haliburton? They've got their fingers in all of it) Not to mention all of the munitions, planes, hummers, uniforms, ammo, etc etc. We get the vast majority of our oil from canada, mexico and south america. (last I heard the entire middle wast was only supplying about 25% of our oil) We SHOULD be taking their damned oil for what this war is costing us and at one time there was some mention of doing just that but then it would have rallied the cries of "oil war" from idiots around the world.

True enough, but that was only stage one. Stage two was to buy the oil for a nickel on the dollar. But that's never gonna happen, the place is such a mess they now import oil. Hey, I never said it was a good plan. They now have to settle for 10's of billions of profits, rather than 100's of billions. Still not a bad payoff for the money they invested in bush's campaighn.

Wow, yeah lets squish the drug cartels so it's harder to get drugs! Who's side are you on anyway?
i'm on the side you think i am... but i'm not for easier to obtain drugs if many innocents are dying/being kidnapped and so on... i want weed yes, but not if it's obtained by the blood of innocents... if i was to advocate death/kidnapping and so on just for drugs, well i wouldnt' be much diffrent from bush... he's all for getting oil and crap, but he WILL look past pointless deaths and this stupid war to get it, i won't. also, if weed were to be legalized completely in the U.S. (assuming there wasnt' a ban on growing it..) we wouldn't need these drug cartels smuggling it in, we may not even need dealers (except for those of who would rather just buy it then take the time to grow it themselves) these people have machine guns, mounted on top of armored SUV's and aren't afraid to use them, there was this one scene... everything had holes in it, cars, windows, furniture, buildings and so on.. do you think there was no one there when it happened? just think, if they go through some populated place where hundreds are just shopping, eating and all that... and something stands in their way, they don't negotiate, they just open fire, they have no regaurds for anything... all the innocent people killed, just so they can get drugs across the boarder, i'd rather not have weed then have it that way.

I watched America's Most-Wanted last night too and I agree, something needs to be done now-rather than later. However,we cannot afford to ignore one problem, while going after another.

I hope that Bush continues to be embarrassed by the border situation and that he's forced to deal with it..it serves him right Otherwise,I hope us border States, tell the feds to git lost,we'll take care of our own border security. In fact,I'd support an invasion by a Texas militia into Nuevo Laredo and other border towns and wipe out the dang drug-lords and cops and federales working for em. We need to capture some of the police and military units crossing over the border and find out if they really are a part of Mexican goverment.

    Have a good one ....

I wouldn't even bother trying to explain it to these children. Most of it is way above their heads. Not to many critical thinkers around here. Whatever, they are always good for a laugh. Pisshead is the best, she has gotten way sloppy.
