What if they held an election and nobody came??
I've always wondered what would happen if during congressional and presidential elections, no one showed up to vote and none of the candidates, deomcans, republicrats, none of them, got a single vote? Because the electorate was so fed up they simply refused to vote? I know I'm dreaming here but isn't it just possible (not probable) that maybe, just maybe the government might just get the message that we have had an assfull of all of their bullshit, lying, cover ups, intimidation tactics, bribery, pork spending, taxing without representing, blowing of sunshine and bubblegum up our asses and generally, taking us for a bunch of ignorant drones who are just too stupid to know what's best for ourselves?
Imagine how the news outlets would react...Imagine the reactions in all of the campaign HQ's. Imagine the buzz on capital hill. Imagine the next days headlines...
New York Times....No Winner...No Voter turnout...No Shit!!!
Wall Street Journal....What Now!!!???
USA Today....Is anyone in Charge!!??
I for one could not stop laughing for days.
Maybe we can start a movement.

Constitutionally that may or may not be correct. I am not sure they ever really provisioned for such an occurance. And in reality, if this ever actually could happen, (which it most probably could not since it is astonomically improbable that you could get the entire american electorate to agree on anything) they would at least get one vote each by voting for themselves. But the point of the question was, do you think the arrogant shitheads would finally get the point?
Sadly, I doubt it.

If nobody attends an election... if nobody votes.... the election cannot be considered to be "representing the will of the people"...
"Nobody" could be definied as a small percentage... I would guess that if less than 40% of the voting population didn't "vote", the race doesn't count.
I'm not a lawyer or expert, but this is what I think is right.
