what happens to the IP logs on cannabis.com ?

I'm just wondering does cannabis.com not log peoples IP address ? It seems the gov could just ask for all of the logs....

I just wonder since the gov is trying to get google to hand over all of their logs. Hopefully everything is all good here.

We maintain logs, as do most other sites - even if we didn't, it's virtually impossible to be truly anonymous on the net anyways.

From my understanding, the U.S. government is demanding google turn over the logs of a million or so keywords searched, not specific IPs, etc.

While on the topic of google ... the reason they've resisted in complying has nothing to do with their "do no evil" (which the founders know is total b.s.), but rather google is fearful their competitors could potentially learn the details of how such search data is stored / utilized if they turn it over to the govt.

But there are already several companies which have their own internet search setups. It only takes about 10K to setup a google search. Yeah, there are monthly fees after that, and that is what google created ad-words for, to setup the search, which makes google search just a marketing piece for the company.
