The ability to focus and concentrate on a single task is a powerful mental tool, honed by eons of evolution and essential to the performance of our daily tasks and techical feats. But it leads to narrowness of mind (not just individually but culturally).

Marijuana is not appropriate for tasks requiring high concentration. It interferes with the filtering of our impressions, both of the senses and of our own scattered thoughts.

Thus it opens the mind to awareness and creativity. It lets us see connections between concepts that were not obvious, like a cosmic detective. It makes us look objectively at our world, taking notice of things formerly taken for granted.

It makes us notice all the stars at once, hear all the voices at once. It makes us notice the architecture of our buildings, of our cities, of our society, of our politics... wonder why we do things this way and not some other.

Do you suppose the present government likes people to heighten their awareness?

Do you expect responsible citizens to understand? Responsible churchgoing, TVwatching, beerdrinking, Walmartshopping, landfilling, gasguzzling citizens, who wage slave for federal reserve notes or worse?

Why do you think beer is more popular than pot? Could be the government has something to do with that?
