At 9:49 a.m. on Saturday July 28, 1945, a B-25 Mitchell bomber accidentally crashed into the north side between the 79th and 80th floors, where the offices of the National Catholic Welfare Council were located. The fire was extinguished in 40 minutes. 14 people were killed in the accident

They had the ability to stop it, that was 1945, imagine today. They had an hour to save the south tower. I firmly believe that was never the intent. You also have to note that the WTC towers were the first and second steel-framed buildings to collapse ever.

who cares what happened to the empire state building. every building isn't designed exactly the same and 7-57 is a considerably larger plane with more fuel. and besides, you, me, or these conspiracy guys aren't experts on what buildings can and cannot withstand, all these facts are based on assumption.
