so I clean it with alcohol or butane? then let it dry? that seems gross... and flammable.. wont those effects the resin somehow????

PS. Why exactly wont the strainer idea work?

rubbing alcohol and salt does it... i think it was penguin that said that but i could be wrong... ive tried it it works great

I usually use the paperclip or bobby-pin, but one time my pipe got so clogged I just washed it out with hot water, But DIDNT SAVE THE RESIN it went into the sink and got all gross then went down the drain...I've regretted it ever since... I was wondering if I should like..use a strainer? so when the water comes out of the pipe with all the resin it gets stuck to the strainer? then I should just scrape it off...let Rating: 5

when i clean my glass pipe, i can spend up to an hour doing it, it's kind of a ritual for me, as i enjoy doing it, kinda like some people enjoy cooking big meals just to eat them, even by their self.

for metal pipes, since they can be taken apart so easily and so easily accesible, i've found a number of methods for collecting resin (scraping is so easy i won't even go into it)

method 1: take two extra screens put on one each side of the body of the pipe (the part between the mouthpeice and the peice that holds the bowl) on the insides of these screens (in your head picture two walls, the two inner most walls, not the outter ones) i put a very small, single ply of quilted type toilet paper/plain tissue there, it acts as a filter and catches unbelievable ammounts of resin, smoke an oz out of it, and you open it up and it almost pours out.

method 2: much like 1, just without the toilet paper, for the more sensitive of lungs (tho with method one if you actually smoke alot, you won't even really see the tissue, much less feel/taste it) this method tends to not catch as much.

method 3: same set up as the first and second one, but in the middle of the two screens i put grinded up weed, dont' pack it in, but make sure it's snug, you dont' want there to be like weed just laying at the bottom half and a clear airway on top, when it becomes hard to hit the pipe (takes some time, and a bit of smoking but eventually it will get pretty hard to hit the pipe) grab a tool you can easily fit through the cavity of the pipe, and something really smooth (glass usually works best, perhaps a mirror) you do not want to touch this stuff, because it will get EVERYWHERE, and push it out, then figure out whatever way involves you touching it the least to get it in a bowl, joints with this stuff don't work too good so don't waste the time, because of how soaked with resin it is, these bowls last a very long time.. of course, i'd not suggest this to anyone who thinks resin is nasty, i actually like resin, as long as it's pure resin, not a bunch of half burnt weed/ashes and metal scrapings.

he's wanting to keep his resin, when you do it with salt, it's not for you to keep it.. cuz you'd wind up smoking salt..
