Officer "docked pay" for torturing Iraqi to death

Prisonplanet | January 24 2006

Chief Warrant Officer Lewis Welshofer, the highest ranking US Army official charged to date in the death of an Iraqi detainee, was convicted of negligent homicide on Saturday after it decided the death was not murder.

Welshofer, following broader army guidelines tortured an Iraqi General named Abed Hamed Mowhoush by covering his mouth and placing him head first into a sleeping bag then sitting on his chest during an interrogation.

The man died. How is that not murder?

The interrogation technique itself completely defies logic, how are you going to get information from someone who's mouth is covered and has been placed inside a sleeping bag?

We also know that any informatin extrapolated via the method of torture is highly suspect at best and most likely completely unreliable.

Yet the globalists still defend the method as effective.

The officer was fined $6,000 in salary and was largely restricted to his barracks and workplace for 60 days.

The leniancy of the sentance highlights the fact that US forces can literally get away with murder and that the use of torture is deemed to be permissable due to the fact that officers who carry it out are simply "following orders".

Where are the punishments for those responsible for these orders?

That's unbelievable that that's all he got you got to be joking me!And what I thought has come out which is The leniancy of the sentance highlights the fact that US forces can literally get away with murder and that the use of torture is deemed to be permissable due to the fact that officers who carry it out are simply "following orders".That's fuckin scary that they can get away with murder and that's all mean't to be ok!Just like the new orleans thing last year and how they were shooting so called "looters"who are they kidding. But for those of youse who think it's ok just wait till another country does it to your men and see how you think about it then.

They issue soldiers weapons for a reason...so they can kill.

Which country didn't torture our troops: Germany, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq during the first gulf war, or Iraq during the initial days of operation freedom. Don't ya know, it's o.k. for our soldiers to be tortured...just as long as we don't return the favor!

If you know a better way of extracting information from an insurgent that wants to kill our soldiers..and Iraqi soldiers, well please tell us.

They drew up their own constitution and voted it in, THEY had two different elections now with the latest having a 70% voter turnout. What part of democracy don't you understand?

The part I understand is that the elections are a sham and it doesn't matter how many times they vote it's still going to be a sham!
If you want a suggestion then I suggest that you get out of the country and your soilders wouldn't be there over something that isn't worth there lives. And if your so high and mighty why don't you become a soilder go to iraq and come back after 6mths and tell it how it is that is if you make it!If you feel so strongly for the troops and want to support them there you go to iraq and support them in numbers

That makes just about as much sense as "If you don't support the war then get out of the country".

Ya see, there's rednecks on both sides of the fence.

By the way, just got high....can bench about 240#......does that make me high and mighty???

Australia wheat monopoly rocked in Iraq inquiry
Mon Jan 16, 2006 1:18 AM ET

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australia's monopoly wheat exporter AWB Ltd was accused on Monday of being prepared to deceive the United Nations over the terms of past oil-for-food wheat deals in Iraq, a government inquiry heard.

The AWB has said it had no knowledge of illicit payments after a U.N. report last October accused it of channeling US$221.7 million to Saddam Hussein's government through past sales.

The Australian government has launched an inquiry, headed by a former Supreme Court judge, to determine whether the AWB broke any Australian laws in its dealings with Iraq.
