Most hash, at least the kind that I prepare, gives of a peculiar smell, more closely related to incense than weed. However, as most have already stated, I try to go about 2/3 weed and 1/3 hash on any given bowl, gives a really nice balance. The only time I smoke hash sans marijuana is when me and a couple of buddies break out the hookah, we'll typically spend at least a day if not more working on a brick.

True, you can't smoke a whole bowl of hash (unless you're superman). But it smokes just fine for me. I break it up and it lights fine. You have to draw harder than you would for bud, and I think you get more smoke. But, it takes me fewer hits to get high. Since you are concerned about ambient smoke, though, I would stick to bud. For me, hash makes more smoke than bud - both on the exhale and out the top of the bowl. With weed, I can keep the ambient smell to a minimum. I have a harder time doing that with hash.

loads of different types of hash with very noticeable differences in smell and strength just smoke it u idiot, it doesnt smell like weed.
