I don't think I would call it better, but we all have our ways of doing things.

The most common 2 light cycles are 24/0 and 18/6. I have done plenty of grows, and from my experience from starting from seed, using the 18/6 lighting produced more females than males.

When I first started, I used 24/0 for quick growing, but after using 4 different seeds, different strains, I got 4 out of 4 males.

I switched things up and started using 18/6. 6 out of 6 grows now, all from seed, diff. packs, diff. strains, have all been female.

I believe the plant does need some down time. Using 24/0 lighting is constant, bright light, and in my opinion, that stresses the plant out.

24/0 lighting should be used for clones. When you take clones off a female mother plant, you know they're female, use the 24/0. Starting from seed is a little more delicate because there is a 50/50 chance, not a 100% chance.

This is from my own experience though, and everyones green thumb varies Hope this helps.

Peace
