I know afew ex cops and they will tell you it's all about EGO and CONTROL . Fireman are real true heroes , Who actually save lives And the majority of them are'nt on a power ego trip go figure. Many cops were picked on ,and beat up on in there youth , OR were the school nerds who never could get a girls attention , So now the badge and gun is used as an extention of there penis in there adult life . Now of course there is always exception to the rules but I whole heartly believe that is the general concenses.
