    First Grow Questions

ok well here is what i plan on doing for my first grow:

    Lighting:
-400 watt Hps for veg and a 400 watt Mh conversion bulb for flowering

Mothers: Get 4 suitable strong female plants all different strains (still open for sugestions on which strains) and use them for mothers. I dont really know how im gonna be able to keep them small enough to fit in the space but i was thinking that id just top them every once and a while and restrict light- keep them on 2 100 watt cfls for all of them (suggestions)

Clones: Yea ummm... just clone i guess. Im not shure what kind of medium i should use for the clones to suggestions on that would help im kinda leaning towards rockwool though.

Nutes: No friggin clue help on that would be greatly appreciated. Also i dont really know how much i should watter. ive heard people on this forum saying you should watter every 2 days and others say they watter every day i dono what to think...

Ventalation: i plan on using a rastafan in my box so i think im good for ventalation but suggestions with that would help too

Space: Not so big. Its a crawl space in my room. The grow isn't secret i just dont want it in the open. Mylar/white paint covering the whole space depending which i can get easier and cheaper

Growing medium- I make my own compost so im using that i have no idea about the ph lvl of the soil but does it really matter that much??? (suggestions)

Potting: 2 gallon pots for each plant (square pots). Is this enough???

Thats it i think. if theres anything i missed let me know and ill let you know whatever it is you need to know.

thanks for your help in advance

    First Grow Questions

Hello dude Welcome to the boards

Lights::: Get as much as light your $budget allows.
Mothers: I congratulate you on deciding of going the mothers' way. To me, it makes more sense than dropping seeds, then removing males... but to each his own.
I've been growing my White Widow mothers for about 110 days or something now. They've been ready to take clones from them since about day 85ish or something. Just so you know, it's going to take time.
I suggest you get the best trains you can $afford.

Nutes::: Well, I suggest you have your mothers in soil... that's what I did. Your actual grow, will it be hydro or soil? The nutes depend on that... more or less.
If you're going hydro, pic General Hydroponics (GH) 3-part nutes... there are others (like Advanced Nutrients... etc.).

Ventilation: Dude, that's a thing that's going to take trial and error... and more trials... ventilation. Try a lot of things until you get it right.

Space: Do you have the measurements? Height, width and length?

Growing medium: My suggestion, soil for mothers, soil or hydro for the actual growth.

Pots: Well, for your mothers, you need to know how big you want them. My mothers are in a 6" pot, and they're pretty bushy... although, they've run out of root space for sure.

For the actual growth, if you're going with soil, you should use a general rule: 1gallon of pot for every foot of plant height.

Ill get those as soon as i can. its not that small but its not enormous either.

I think for the strains im gonna do white rhino, Ak-48, Big Bud, and either Jock Horror or Ice.

I still need a way to keep my mothers short so any suggestions on that would help. i was thinking about just topping them every once and a while or maybe just giving them less light any suggestions on this approch would help a lot.

Definitely... that slipped past me... As pPuff says, it's MH for veg and HPS for flowering.

No, don't go the "less light" way.
Go the LST way. Tie them down to the pot... with gardening wire or "twine" (string). Keep on LSTing them over and over. That's what I did with my girls. They're averaging about 14" of height, total (from bottom of pot to top of the plants). The pot is about 8 inches high. I want to get them between 12" and 14" of height. The max I can go before running into problems is 18".

All this has been done through LSTing them... Take a look at my thread man, my girls are some good looking small bushes

yea lst'ing is simple stands for low stress training and its a form of tieing an retieing almost daily as your tomatoe plants grow as to keep the plant growing to a restricted height it essentially begins with a first tie between the 5th an 6th node or less dependent on how restricted your space is an jus tie her down so she looks like shes bending over then continue tieing down as she grows look it up in this forum you'll also find great threads by hardon in the faq section i belive it is if not search it best of luck

    First Grow Questions

tak another pot sam size as the 1 ur growin in,weigh its dry weight, wen pot ur growin in weighs his amont or a little less water, this should get u in the ball park,on wen to water.only other problem in early stage of life is he amont of water, dpends on pot size and plant size.i usally start of with 1/ oz o a ounce of water, wen thats start drying in one day intead of 2-3 days i up the amont by a 1/2 a ounce and so on.in 8 oz cups, nder florescent lights, usin water ph 7.4,no lime added to soil.most poting soil are ph 6.5.i dont use alot of foods at or at high strengths,so its easier to keep soil ph in check.its just eallyy eaier to add lime to soil though,i just got tired of phing the water, since it seems to tak diff. amonts on diff. nights to bring it down exactly were i need to be.with liming the soil the watering ph woundnt hav to so exact with the ph range,it can be between 6.2-7.0 on the average and thats the diff. between liming a soil or not liming one,one of them anyway.
