Sativagrowin, I think I'm getting where I agree more with you, but I soak the seeds for a short time, like 6-8 hours, to soften the shell, then plant. I'd just rather not have to tamper with the very small root and hairs when I can just plant 'em after soaking. Although I know the majority of growers probably do use some variation of this method & wait till there's a root showing, or a non-viable seed. Whatever, I've done it that way most of the time with no prob, but still just don't like fooling with the seed any more than possible. And the shell or partial shell that's on there; I never touch it; it'll fall off soon enough & ain't hurtin anything. JMHO...
