The only thing holding the soul back from it's full potential is the body. All creatures of this world (whether it be animals, humans etc) are limited by the capabilities of their body. All souls are equal but when a soul is free from the body it becomes one with everything, realising all the information in the universe and coercing with other souls within the soul pool (this is my belief and is based off various documents Ive read over my life).
