My comp and electricity...
Ok awhile back i got told that if you keep your comp running 24/7 its better for it then switching it off after your done with it everytime. is that actually true, or is it better to leave it on all day then shut it off during the night? I hope this doesn't seem like a stupid question...and how much does a computer use in regards to electrcity, and why when i try to put my comp in sleep mode it just freezes up instead, done this pretty much from the start...

The computer will only ever use as much as the power supply draws... 350,400,500watt. plus your monitor.
In terms of conserving energy ? If you were growing.. i could see the use for regulating how long your computer is on..
And like toko says, if you've payed less than 1000$ for a computer package than chances are those fans and HD's won't last long running 24/7
