    hydro setup

right, I've never grown Hydro before but want to try it out after my next grow (due to shortage of money). I've been looking for a good setup for my 400 watt MH/HPS light and my 1m squared grow tent. I was looking at this http://www.aquaculture-hydroponics.c...productID=1279
It says that it is 1m squared so that should be perfect. I would grow the plants to about 10 inches and induce flowering. I will keep a mother plant seperately growing in soil, and take clones from her 1 week before plants are to be harvested. I will then put them in and so on. Anyone know any good systems that I might consider instead ( budget £200, equivelent to like $380)? does this sound like an okay setup? dont Know much about hydro, so what kind of yield should I expect (strain: Big bud x Northern lights)? Sorry if this is too much, its just the concept of hydro kinda scares me as I like to grow simple so I wanna do this right

o, by the way. I dont plan on growing all 16 plants in there as there wont be room, The only reason I want to buy this system instead of say the 8 or 10 plant system is because it is the only one with the right dimensions.

Looks like a good sytem. I run a small 6 plant drip. I have 2 now. Drip is the way to go I think you will have fun growing hydro. Your shure it will fit ? with a 400 in a tent you can hope for 28 to 60 grams per plant. Remember keep them small so the light gets to all part of the plants. You want to start flowering 12/12 at 5 sets of leaves or about 12 inches. BB x NL should be good. Sounds like your doing the home work, that's good. Yes soil is easy but wait till you pull in a good harvest of hydro. It seems to grow right in front of you sometimes. You will also need a PH meter and an EC, tds, meter. You might get that in your budget. Have you picked nutrients yet ? General hydroponics seems to be the most used or I hear dutch masters is good too. Good luck. Let us know what happens. Anymore ? I'm shure you will get a few opions, take the best and run with it. Remember once you go hydro you never go back.LOL

thanks guys. Im looking at nutrients at the moment, Is hydro a lot more maintenance than soil? Its just that sometimes I go on holiday for a week or two and the people that look after my plants can water the plants, add ferts to the water and move the light, But thats about it. Am I gonna have to stop going away?
LocNar, I think it will fit. It is 1m squared and the tent is 1m squared so it will be a squeeze but i hope it will fit, It depends on the accuracy of the measurements. Also I was thinking of rooting clones in rockwool cubes and once rooted moving onto clay pebbles. It will be a few months untill I do this as I'm about to start a soil grow, same strain, in the tent and start up my mother plant. It will be intersting to see the difernce in yield

As many as you can get in there. As far as leaving, all some one has do to is check PH daily and maybe adjust it. You can setup a your unit with fresh water and nutes, PH it and leave for 2 weeks. If they can move a light they can top off the res and check PH. They might have to adjust PH. Just check it and add a little up or down depends on how much water is in the system, a teaspoon to a tablespoon, wait 15 minutes and check again. Buy PH up and down when you get your nutes. If your Ph is good they won't have much to do. Changing res water is the only real work mine takes. The rest is just checking and alittle adjustment. You should have no problems. It's good you have some one you can trust. Check out what latewood said you may save some you can spend on a good PH meter.
